【場景一】

本集中著名的紐約大停電發生了，Monica的公寓中……
Rachel:Wow, this is so cool, you guys. The entire city is blacked out!
Monica: Mom says it's all of Manhattan, parts of Brooklyn and Queens, and they have no idea when it's coming back on.

【場景二】

Ross給Rachel講了一大堆關於激情的話,想借機展開兩個人的關係，但似乎收效甚微，Rachel根本沒往那個方向去想，她像哄小孩子似地撫摸了一下Ross的頭走開了，坐在一邊的Joey說起了風涼話……
Joey: It's never gonna happen.
Ross: What?
Joey: You and Rachel.
Ross: What? Why not?
Joey: Because you waited too long to make your move, and now you're in the friend zone.
Ross: No, no, no. I'm not in the zone.
Joey: Ross, you're mayor of the zone.

【講解】

1. black out 燈火管制，熄燈，停止，中斷，停電

實際生活中，還可用fuse off表示停電。

2. you're in the friend zone.

直譯：你們處於朋友地帶(朋友圈)中。
實際上就是說:(你一直沒有采取行動去追求她,)你們現在已經是朋友了。(你很難有所作爲了。)
