【場景一】

Thanksgiving臨近了，大家聚在Central Perk討論節日計劃...

Rachel打算和家人團聚,並像以往那樣一起去滑雪,此時的她正在辛苦地籌錯自己的機票錢,正當她一籌莫展時,朋友們伸出了援手...
Monica:Hey, Rach, did you make your money?
Rachel: No,not even close. Forget Vail,forget seeing my family,forget shoop,shoop,shoop.

【講解】

1. boycott vt 抵制，拒絕出席，拒絕參加

They're boycotting the shop because the people there are on strike.
他們抵制那家商店, 因爲那裏的店員在罷工。

2. chip in 這是一個很有用的詞彙，是“出錢、捐獻”的意思，但不同於“donate”，一般用於幾個人湊錢合夥做一件事，比如幾個人湊錢買了臺電視，買了瓶酒；爲參加某個人的婚禮，即個人合夥湊了一個大紅包，這些情況都可以用chip in

這個詞在《老友記》中還出現過一次，就是後面Ross剛搬進ugly naked guy的公寓，就趕上公寓的管理員Howard退休,大家湊了一筆錢給他以示感謝，而Ross拒絕出錢，以至於被大家冷落，但Phoebe卻和他們很融洽，還參加了他們的晚會，
原因就是She chipped in,by the way，Ross said that.
