'Florence, my dear child, your poor Papa is peculiar at times; and to question me about him, is to question me upon a subject which I really do not pretend to understand. If I was to be put upon my oath to-morrow, Lucretia, before a magistrate,' said Mrs Chick, 'I have no doubt I could venture to swear to those identical words.'

accept, receive, admit, take
這些動詞均有“接受、接納”之意。
accept強調主動地或自願地接受，或者說，經過考慮後同意接受。
receive着重僅僅接到或收到這一結論或事實，而不含採取主動或積極行動的意思。
admit作“接受”講時，強調準許或批准。
take與receive同意，是receive的日常用法，側重不帶主觀意願地收下或接受。
