英法形近詞對比：法語patron 和英語 patron

法語的“patron” 和英語的“patron” 長得完全一樣，但它們是一對“假朋友”：小心上當！

另外，法語的“patron”還有“守護神”（patron saint）等其他意思。

例如：

Saint Christophe est le patron des voyageurs.
Saint Christopher is the patron saint of travellers.
聖克里斯托夫是旅行者的守護神。

Le patron n’a pas l’air de très bonne humeur aujourd’hui !
Your old man doesn’t seem to be in a very good mood today!
你老公今天的心情不太好呀！（= mari）

J’ai acheté un patron pour me faire une nouvelle robe.
I’ve bought a pattern to make myself a new dress.
我買了個版型，準備照着做一件新裙子。

英語的“patron”主要意思是“顧客”(client)，和藝術領域裏的“贊助人”(mécène).

The young painter was very lucky: a wealthy patron took him under his wing.
Ce jeune peintre a eu beaucoup de chance: un riche mécène l’a pris sous sa protection.
這個年輕的畫家非常幸運：一個有錢人成爲了他的贊助人。

The car park is for the use of patrons only.
Le parking est strictement reservé à nos clients/ à notre clientèle.
停車場僅供顧客使用。（^v^）

在酒吧裏，有時會聽到 bar tender 說（很豪爽的樣子）：

C’est la tournée du patron !
It’s on the house /The drinks are on the house!
這杯是小店請客 (白送的)！（^v^）

這時不要客氣，不要猶豫，既然人家願意請客嘛...（^v^）
