如果若有過你的朋友常常天馬行空，想些不切實際的做法，你就可以對他說You're hopeless.若你想勸朋友實際一點，就可以說：Be practical! 你實際一點！
A: I love writing poetry. That's all I ever think about.
我喜歡寫詩。我滿腦子想的都是這件事。
B: You're hopeless! You might as well resign yourself to being a poor poet.

一個人之所以會說這句話，總是因着“自己的命運要靠自己創造”的雄心壯志，但上面對話裏的赫伯特因爲太過被動，讓唐着急不已，所以決定插手干預，纔會說“你的愛情生活由我接管”take your love life into my own hands.
