【譯文】We will continue,as usual,to cooperate sincerely with our friends on the basis of equality and mutual benefit,so that we can contribute more to the export of cereals,oils and foodstuffs as well as China's foreign trade as a whole.

【點評】角色轉換在翻譯中至關重要。所謂“角色轉換”是指在翻譯過程中，要充分考慮到譯文的目標讀者，然後再從目標讀者閱讀譯文的角度來行文，這時，譯文的有些字眼就不能以通常的方式進行表達，需要換一種方式。本例漢語原文中的“我國”如果以通常的方式進行表達就是“our country”，但如果以這種方式進行翻譯就會令讀者莫名其妙，這裏的英譯文從目標讀者的角度出發，以“China”譯出，充分考慮到譯文讀者的視角，爲充分傳達原文信息鋪平了道路。

【點評】任何翻譯都要涉及兩種語言，所涉及的兩種語言在表達方式上不可能完全一樣，比如，有時源語(the source language)將細節充分明示出來，但如果譯語也以同樣的明示方式傳達原文信息就不簡潔，此時就需要在譯文中做暗示處理。對於“以外商爲對象，通過各種形式”，英譯文以一介詞短語“Through contacts with overseas businessmen”就足以傳達原文的含義，其中“contacts”一詞中的複數“-s”傳達出了“通過各種形式”的含義。此外，原文第一個分句的謂語部分“調查研究國外市場的需求情況及他們對我出口商品的反應”在英譯文中以“conduct overseas market surveys”即可簡要再現原文之含義。原文中“從而弄清”在英譯文中以“This will help them understand ...”既充分傳達出原文的含義，又起到承上啓下的作用。對於“如何擴大推銷等，並指定計劃，擬定措施”這些不太重要的信息，英譯文予以省略。而對於原文最後一句“使我國生產出更多的適銷對路的出口商品，換取更多的外匯”，英譯文做了簡化處理，將此句意譯成“All these will no doubt help promote China's export trade”

【譯文】The management together with the rank and file of our company is determined to make consorted efforts to foster the business to grow into a high-tech focused conglomerate with a competitive edge on the international market.

【點評】這裏原文中有“上下”二字，到底如何翻譯這個“上”字呢?“上”當然指的是管理層了。人們常說的“管理人員”常被譯成“managerial staff”，但實際上，英語裏更多見的是用management staff或乾脆使用management更簡潔明瞭，只是商務英語翻譯中可以效法的。比如：高層管理人員(senior/top management)，中層管理人員(middle management)，基層管理人員(junior management)。同樣，“國際競爭力”通常被譯爲“with international competitiveness”。“企業集團”是conglomerate——a corporation that has diversified its operations usually by acquiring enterprises in widely varied industries。“公司上下”可以是management and staff，但最好說the management together with the rank and file。“發展成爲”用foster(比如foster the local industry)一詞比較合適。
