【英語天天向上】輕鬆每日一句：返鄉的道路是曲折的

【原句】If she is down, try to amuse her. Laughter is the best medicine.
【解說】down在這句話中解釋爲unhappy/sad，情緒低落、消沉。get sb. down意思就是“讓某人消沉”。

2. 獨立思考是絕對必要的。

【原句】Independent thinking is an absolute necessity.
【解說】necessity n. 需要，必要性；out of necessity 出於需要，例：We sold our car out of necessity. 出於需要我們把車賣了。

3. 她有責任感以及強烈的進取精神。

【原句】She is responsible and has a strong sense of enterprising spirit.
【解說】enterprising 有創業精神的，有進取心的；enterprise是它的名詞形式，解釋爲“進取心，事業心”，例：a man of great ~ ，有進取精神的人。

4. 這些天，機場、火車站和長途汽車站都擠滿了返鄉的人。

【原句】Airports, railway stations and long-distance bus stations are crowded with home returnees these days.
【解說】long-distance bus 長途汽車，短途汽車就是short-distance bus。

5. 道路是曲折的，前途是光明的。

【原句】The road is tortuous, but the future is bright.
【解說】tortuous a. 迂迴曲折的（例：a tortuous route 曲折的路線）；極爲複雜的（例：a tortuous process 複雜的過程）

6. 儘管你已經經歷了許多，但是你仍然可以再活一次，就從現在開始。

【原句】You can start right now and live again as many years as you have already experienced.
【解說】right now 現在（at the present time）；立即，馬上（immediately）

7. 你不能在電影院預定座位，它是嚴格按照“先到先得”原則的。

【原句】You can't reserve a seat at the movie theater; it's strictly first come, first served.
【解說】first come, first served 是一個諺語，先到的人先被服務，也就是我們所說的“先到先得”。
