【解詞釋義】let-down是由let down這個詞組變化而來的。這個詞組的意義豐富，其中有一個意思是指“在患難中，在緊急關頭拋棄他人，出賣朋友，這種行爲肯定會使人失望、寒心不已”。因此，該習語引申爲“讓人失望”。
