I am resigning the presidency of the United States. Tricia and I believe that this is the best course of action, not only for us and our children, but for the country. It's sad day for us. I can't deny that. But I take solace in this: Frank Underwood will bring virtue, experience, and courage to the Oval Office. I have been blessed to have him as my vice president. But I'm even more blessed to call him my friend.
