    Dan Robinson has been worried all week. Last Tuesday he received a letter from the local police. In the letter he was asked to call at the station. Dan wondered why he was wanted by the police, but he went to the station yesterday and now he is not worried anymore. At the station, he was told by a smiling policeman that his bicycle had been found. Five days ago, the policeman told him, the bicycle was picked up in a small village four hundred miles away. It is now being sent to his home by train. Ted was most surprised when he heard the news. He was amused too, because he never expected the bicycle to be found. It was stolen twenty years ago when Dan was a boy of fifteen !

參考譯文

   丹?魯賓遜焦慮了整整一個星期. 上星期二他收到當地警察局的一封信, 要他到警察局去一趟. 丹奇怪警察爲什麼找他, 但昨天還是去了, 結果他不再擔心了. 在警察局裏, 一位面帶笑容的警察告訴他, 他的自行車找到了. 那位警察對他說, 那輛自行車是5天前在400英里外的一個小村裏發現的, 現在正用火車給他運回家來. 丹聽到這個消息後, 驚奇萬分, 但又感到非常好笑, 因爲他從未指望那輛自行車還能找到. 這是20年前丹還是一個15歲的孩子時被人偷走的!

第三部分 LANGUAGE POINTS

1、Dan Robinson has been worried all  week.
has been worried:be worried（adj.）的完成時態，而不是被動語態，類似詞還有
surprised,amused,excited
amazed,confused,shocked
這些詞都和感覺有關，常與系動詞（be,get,feel,become，etc.）構成系表結構

all week:此處也可以用for the whole week

2、In the letter he was asked to call at the station. 
be asked to do sth:主動語態爲ask sb. to do sth.
call at:pay a visit to 拜訪

3、Dan wondered why he was wanted by the police.
Dan wondered why he was wanted by the police
wonder後跟why引導的賓語從句，從句中主謂語序不能顛倒
be wanted:只是指警察要找他

4、Now he is not worried anymore.
=Now he is no longer worried.
ore = no more 不再, 再也不

5、The bicycle was picked up in a small village four hundred miles away.
away:adv.表示多少距離之外
pick up:意外地找到

第四部分 KEY STRUCTURES AND USAGE

被動語態

Ex:

1）In the letter he was asked to call at the station.
2）Dan wondered why he was wanted by the police.
3）At the station, he was told（被動語態的過去式） by a smiling policeman that his bicycle had been found（被動語態的過去完成時）.
4）The bicycle was picked up in a small village four hundred miles away.
5）It is now being sent(被動語態的現在進行時) to his home by train.

課文中有用句型

He never expected the bicycle to be found. (expect+n.+不定式短語)
He never expected that the bicycle would be found.(expect+賓語從句（被動語態）)
He never expected that the police would find the bicycle.(expect+賓語從句（主動語態）)
