A public house which was recently bought by Thompson is up for sale. pson is going to sell it because it is haunted. He told me that he could not go to sleep one night because he heard a strange noise coming from the bar. The next morning, he found that the doors had been blocked by chairs and the furniture had been moved. Though pson had turned the lights off before he went to bed, they were on in the morning. He also said that he had found five empty whisky bottles which the ghost must have drunk the night before. When I suggested that some villagers must have come in for a free drink, pson shook his head. The villagers have told him that they will not accept the pub even if he gives it away.

伊恩.湯普森先生最近纔買的一個小酒店現在又要賣出去. 湯普森先生之所以想賣它, 是因爲那裏常鬧鬼. 他告訴我有天夜裏他怎麼也睡不着, 因爲他聽到酒吧裏傳來一陣奇怪的響聲. 第二天早上, 他發現酒吧間的門被椅子堵上了, 傢俱也被挪動過. 雖然湯普森臨睡覺時把燈關了, 但早晨燈卻都亮着. 他還說他發現了5只空的威士忌瓶子, 肯定是鬼魂昨天晚上喝的. 當我暗示說一定是村裏有些人來喝不花錢的酒時, 湯普森先生搖了搖頭. 村裏的人已經告訴他, 即使他把小酒店白送人, 他們也不要.

be haunted:鬧鬼
haunt=visit, 但不能應用於人的拜訪

go to sleep：入睡（和go to bed上牀、睡覺的意思不一樣）
coming from the bar：現在分詞短語修飾noise；在語法上稱作賓語補足語
它也可以變爲從句結構：a strange noise that came from the bar
4、He also said that he had found five empty whisky bottles which the ghost must have drunk the night before.
which the ghost must have drunk the night before：定語從句修飾whisky bottles（借喻說法）
the night before:注意間接引語中時間狀語的表達
對比時間狀語的表達：（間接引語中/直接引語中）
the night before 前一天晚上 / last night 昨天晚上
the week before 前一個星期 / last week 上個星期
the day before 前一天 / yesterday 昨天
the next day 下一天 / tomorrow 明天
5、The villagers have told him that they will not accept the pub even if he gives it away.
even if：即使...,引導讓步狀語從句
give away:白白地送掉
