I once had a friend who grew to be very close to me.

Once when we were sitting at the edge of a swimming pool, she filled the palm of her hand with a little water and held it before me, and said this: You see this water carefully contained on my hand? It symbolizes love. As long as you keep your hand caringly open and allow it to remain there, it will always be there. However, if you attempt to close your fingers around it and try to posses it, it will spill through the first cracks it finds.

From the window of my room, I could see a tall tree.

I could not help sighing with emotion: The course of life never runs smoothly, for there are so many ups and downs and twists and turns. For me, I’ve witnessed my beloved friends parting one after another. Isn’t this similar to the tree shedding its flowers in the wind?

This event gradually disappeared from my memory as time went by. One day after coming home from the countryside, something outside the window caught my eye and dazzled me. It was a tree all red with flowers set off beautifully in the sun. The surprise discovery overwhelmed me with pleasure.
