海峽兩岸:臺灣飛大陸直航航點增至54個
THE Chinese mainland has given permission for more flights between it and Taiwan, bolstering the island as a gateway to the mainland.
中國大陸已經批准與臺灣之間開通更多的航班，支持這座小島成爲大陸的門戶。Taiwan's civil aviation authorities said yesterday that the mainland agreed to let 14 more cities fly direct regular or charter flights to Taiwan, up from the current 40 cities.
臺灣民航當局昨日表示中國大陸同意在當前40個城市上再增加14個城市常規直航或包機直航到臺灣。This will allow Taiwan to have direct air links with more mainland cities than Hong Kong. Officials say Hong Kong has links to fewer than 45 mainland spots.

Taiwan has 558 weekly flights with the mainland, compared with about 800 by Hong Kong. The number of weekly flights between the mainland and Taiwan will increase to 616 starting March.
