取消NBA的東西部分區?沒那麼簡單!

This is purely hypothetical and meant only to show the interesting matchups that could happen if there was a 16 team seeding vs the traditional method we use today.

是否取消東西部分區，一直是NBA的一個熱議話題。如果按照傳統的東西部分區和假想的16支種子球隊來打季後賽的話，會是什麼樣的情景？

Celtics trailblazers and warriors sixers would be a scheduling nightmare, and probably one of the big reasons this won't happen.

Also, just want to point out that in terms of flying... there isn't too much difference between Boston and Portland and OKC and Portland.

Yes, obviously the flight is probably an hour or two shorter from OKC rather than Boston, but when you factor in having to go to the airport and everything that comes with that (magnified by a little because we're talking about 20+ people traveling together). It's going to eat up roughly half of your day anyway.

This isn't just a team's traveling thing. It's a “east coast fan base has to stay up until 10:30 local time to watch their team in the playoffs” or “west coast fan base has to request off work to watch their team play at 3:30 local” thing.

這不僅僅是球隊旅行的問題。還有另外一個問題：東海岸的球迷可能要熬到晚上10：30才能看到主隊的季後賽比賽，而西海岸的球迷則要請假觀看主隊的比賽。

Although as someone in the central time zone, we have to deal with us playing teams on the West coast all the time. Granted... that's just a 2 hour difference instead of 3 hours. But I never like having to watch games at 9:30, so 10:30 is worse.

I would make the point that in another post on here I float the idea of the higher seeds getting to choose their opponents every round. And I suspect that in the first round, when the Warriors are deciding between the Clippers or Heat, when they are close enough in regular season record... at that point you might make your decision based on ease of travel.

What other arguments are against changing the system? I've heard hypothetically flying from the east to west may as well be flying to Europe back and forth in a series. Could be hard on players and coaches. Of course it's not a big deal for us because we're central but that's not the case for everyone.
