英國政府出資將《莎士比亞全集》譯成中文

The government has pledged a ￡1.5 milliongrant to the Royal Shakespeare Company, to translate the entire works ofShakespeare into Chinese.

英國政府已經承諾出資150萬英鎊請皇家莎士比亞劇團將《莎士比亞全集》譯成中文版本。

The Department for Culture, Media and Sportwill give the RSC a further ￡300,000 to tour through China, in the hopes of boostingtourism and "cultural links".

文化媒體和運動部門還將贊助皇家莎士比亞劇團30萬英鎊環遊中國的費用，他們希望以此推動旅遊和“文化關係”。

The money will allow the RSC to translateevery Shakespeare play into Mandarin, in the hopes of introducing them to a newaudience.

這些資金將使皇家莎士比亞劇團有條件將所有莎士比亞的劇本都翻譯成中文，希望可以將這些作品介紹給新的受衆羣體。

The translated texts will then allowChinese theatre companies to stage their own versions of the Bard's best-lovedwork, for home-grown audiences.

中國的劇院將可根據中文譯本爲國內的觀衆上演莎翁最鍾愛的作品。

The scheme, announced by culture secretarySajid Javid, is aimed a improving economic links with China andencouraging more tourists to visit the home of Shakespeare.

據文化祕書沙吉德·嘉偉德（SajidJavid）所說，這個計劃旨在改善英國同中國的經濟關係並鼓勵更多的遊客來到莎士比亞的故鄉。

It will also see translation of 14 Chineseplays into English, in what the DCMS hopes will allow "audiences here toexperience the best of Chinese culture for the first time".

中國也將有14個英譯劇本，神州數碼管理系統有限公司希望這能讓“英國的觀衆首次領略到中國最優秀的文化”。

The plans, announced as part of an"economic and financial dialogue" with Chinese Vice President Ma Kai,will "boost business through culture" to foster mutual understanding,while "promoting the best of Britain’s unique and varied cultural scene onan international stage", a spokesman said.

一位發言人說，這項計劃被稱爲與中國國務院副總理馬凱開展的“經濟和金融對話”的一部分，計劃將“通過文化推動商業發展”、促進兩國相互瞭解，同時“在國際舞臺上宣傳英國最優秀的獨特多樣的文化場景”。

Mr Javid said: “Creating stronger linkswith Chinais a top priority for the Government, and sharing the very best of ourrespective cultures is a brilliant way to make this happen. This funding meansWestern and Eastern cultures can learn from and be enriched by one another andwhat better way than using the works of Shakespeare. The package marks a reallyimportant step for both Chinaand the UKto grow a strong and progressive relationship.
