Ask me no more where Jove bestows,
When June is past, the fading rose;
For in your beauty’s orient deep,
These flowers, as in their causes, sleep.
Ask me no more whither do stray
The golden atoms of the day;
For in pure love heaven did prepare
Those powders to enrich your hair.
當六月過去，玫瑰凋殘，

【作品賞析】
詩人不遺餘力地歌頌佳人的美，六月的玫瑰、金色的太陽、五月的夜鶯以及明亮的繁星，都成了他的比較對象。但在詩人的心中，玫瑰、太陽和星星都和她相差甚遠，就連夜鶯的啼叫都比不上她“甜蜜的歌喉”，詩人對愛人的情意表露無遺！
【作者簡介】
托馬斯·卡洛Thomas Carew（1595-1645），英國詩人，出生於肯特郡的西威克姆。卡洛就讀於牛津大學。1630年，他成爲查理一世宮廷中的一位官員。卡洛是第一位被稱爲“保皇詩人”的詩人。卡洛深受本·瓊生和約翰·多恩的影響，寫了許多短歌和愛情抒情詩，有些已被作曲家配上樂曲。他的詩歌以其意象的優美和典雅而著稱。
