Rain cats and dogs是一句非常受歡迎的俚語，幾乎每個學英語的學生都懂得用 rain cats and dogs 來形容雨下得很大。

當然如果你不想用俚語的講法，你可以說："It's raining really hard.(雨下得很大)"或是"We're having a heavy rain."同樣也是“雨下得很大”。

那“雨下得很大，我被淋成了落湯雞”這整句話要怎麼講?“落湯雞”在英文裏常用"I am soaked."(我溼透了)來形容。因此，我們可以說：It's raining cats and dogs out there so I'm soaked. 2. We had a downpour. 我們剛遇到了一場傾盆大雨。

中文裏常形容下雨像是用“倒”的一樣，這在英文裏也有同樣對等的字眼喔!英文裏用的是 downpour 這個詞。所以“下雨像是用倒的”我們可以說："We had a downpour."

在英文裏不管下“毛毛雨”或是“毛毛雪”我們都可以用 drizzle 和 sprinkle 這兩個動詞來表示。

Drizzle 這個詞就是氣象術語“下毛毛雨”的意思，而sprinkle 則是一個動詞表示“撒”，但也常被用來形容毛毛雨。

常聽到的用法就是："It's drizzling." 或是 "It's sprinkling."另外還有一個詞叫 scattered rain，指的則是“零零星星地降雨”。
