IBM預測:未來電池將以空氣爲動力

IBM released its annual "Next Five in Five" list this week. Five innovations, including air-powered batteries, 3D cellphones as well as "adaptive traffic systems," could be expected over the next five years。

Today's batteries could be replaced by batteries "that use the air we breathe" and that will "last about 10 times longer than they do today". In some cases, batteries may even disappear in smaller devices, according to IBM。

Holographic cameras will become widespread. And 3D and holographic cameras that fit into cellphones allowing video chat with "3D holograms of your friends in real time."

"Adaptive traffic system" adopts new mathematical models and predictive analytics technologies to deliver the best routes for daily travel. It will learn traveler behavior to provide more dynamic travel safety and route information to travelers than is available today。

In addition, according to IBM, better ways to recycle heat and energy from data centers will be found to "heat buildings in the winter and power air conditioning in the summer" during the future five years。

The last but not the least, "citizen scientists" will emerge in five years, with sensors in cellphones, cars and wallets collecting data for research。

據網站23日報道,美國IBM公司上週發佈了一年一度的“未來5年5項預測”。IBM預計,未來5年中出現的5項創新包括:空氣動力電池、3D全息攝像頭手機以及“適應性交通系統”。

此外,IBM還稱,未來5年內,數據中心運作時散發的熱能將會被更好地循環利用,並且可以“冬天爲建築物供暖,在夏天爲空調供電。”

最後一點也不容小覷,那就是5年後將有可能出現“平民科學家”。他們的手機、汽車以及錢包中的傳感器可收集數據以供研究。
