中國通過香港對外開放4.2萬億美元的中國股市

The Chinese mainland is now open forbusiness, at least in terms of its $4.2 trillion capital market. The Shanghai and Hong Kongstock exchanges are now linked giving foreign investors access to the tightly-controlled Chinese capital markets.

中國大陸現在正式對外開展交易，至少對於市值達4.2萬億美元的中國股市來說是這樣。上海和香港的股市已實現互通，這樣外國投資者就可以接近受到嚴格控制的中國股市了。

Stock Connect debuted on November 17, andfor the first time, stocks on both markets can be traded freely, a major step in China's roadmap to liberalize its economy.

滬港股市於11月17日實現互聯互通，兩地股市的股票首次實現自由交易，這是中國朝放活經濟邁出的重要一步。

The landmark agreement will give international investors a lot more options- 568 Shanghai-listed stocks and 268 Hong Kong-listed companies. Foreign investors will be exempt from paying taxes on capital gains (CGT). Previously, the trading of mainland Chinese stocks onthe Hong Kong exchange was restricted to a few"qualified" investors.

這個有里程碑意義的協議將給國際投資者帶來更多的選擇——滬股通標的股有568只，港股通標的股有268只。外國投資者將可免交資本增值稅。此前，只有少數“有資格”的投資者纔可以通過港交所與中國大陸進行股票交易。

The change was announced last April by Chinese Premier Li Keqiang as a way to increase both exchanges' standings in global finance.

去年4月份，中國總理李克強宣佈了這一改革以提高兩地交易所在全球金融市場的交易戰績。

“This should increase the scale and relevance of these markets and also improve market efficiency and the robustness of China's financial system in general,” HSBC analyst Steven Sun, head of China equity strategy, said in a report leading up to the unveiling.

匯豐中國股票策略主管孫瑜(Steven Sun) 在揭幕式開始前作報告時說，“這將提升股市的規模和聯繫，還將在整體上提高市場的效率以及中國金融體系的穩健性”。

A limit of $2.1 billion (13 billion yuan worth of stocks can be bought on the Shanghai exchange per day. On the opening day, the limit was reached by mid-afternoon.

投資者每日可以從上交所購買價值達21億美元的股票，滬港通開通這一天，下午3點左右達到了交易限額。

The link may soon be expanded to the Shenzhen Stock Exchange, HSBC wrote.
