Chinese investors who sank about $1.2b into companies in Switzerland have staged protests in Geneva to demand their money back.

一羣在瑞士公司投入12億美元的中國投資者日前在日內瓦抗議，追討投資款。

They were promised returns of as much as 10% a month from currency trading by API Premiere Swiss Trust AG and Alpen Asset Management Trust Sarl, according to interviews with six victims and documents they shared over the past three months.

根據對6名受害者的採訪以及過去3個月他們分享的文件，名爲API Premiere Swiss Trust AG和Alpen Asset Management Trust Sarl的公司承諾他們通過炒外匯每個月可獲得高達10%的回報。

The money disappeared from their accounts in January, the investors said.

投資者稱，他們賬戶裏的資金今年1月消失。

About 29,000 investors were involved in the alleged scam, and the suspects are still at large.

約有2.9萬投資者捲入這場騙局，嫌疑人目前仍逍遙法外。

"Both companies used their Swiss image to attract new clients, although they were mainly managed from abroad," said a spokesman for Finma.

瑞士金融市場監督管理局(Finma)發言人稱，兩家公司打着"瑞士身份"的旗號吸引新客戶，但它們的經營方主要來自海外。

In January, Finma issued a public warning that API and Alpen were wrongly claiming to be licensed and supervised by the Swiss regulator.
