海航在法國啓動“巴黎國際周”

If last week’s news about Chinese regulators reviewing the borrowing habits of a handful of companies, including HNA, was meant to take the wind out of the sails of the Hainan-based company, there was no signs of it on Monday night in Paris’s historic Petit Palais art museum.

Here the Chinese group kicked off what it dubbed Paris International Week, which among others things will see HNA as the lead sponsor of the Open de France golf tournament. (Not to be outdone, HNA’s aircraft leasing group Avolon signed an MOU at the Paris Air Show last week to purchase 75 Boeing 737 planes, with an option to buy a further 50.)

海航在這裏啓動了其所謂的巴黎國際周(Paris International Week),包括成爲法國高爾夫公開賽(Open de France)的主贊助商。(不甘被蓋過風頭的是,海航旗下的飛機租賃公司Avolon上週在巴黎航展(Paris Air Show)上籤訂諒解備忘錄,擬購買75架波音(Boeing) 737飛機,還可以選擇購買另外50架。)

Monday evening’s affair was to celebrate HNA’s annual charity night, which saw the company make a series of financial commitments to philanthropic initiatives in front of about 300 guests, who drank from magnums of 2008 Chateau Batailley and dined on a menu that was provided by Michelin starred-chef Jo?l Robuchon and HNA’s own catering business.

It was also a birthday party of sorts for Chen Feng, HNA’s chairman (pictured below), who is undoubtedly the face of the company and who is increasingly finding himself in demand among the world’s leading dealmakers.

Among those seated with him at the top table were executives from commodities trading group Glencore, socialist party politician Claude Bartolone, who until recently was president of France’s National Assembly, and famed chef Alain Ducasse. Nearby was Max Baucus, former US ambassador to China.

Chief executive Adam Tan told the audience that HNA companies now have in aggregate annual revenues of around $100bn and a global workforce of 410,000, with about 170,000 employees in Europe.

海航首席執行官譚向東(Adam Tan)告訴觀衆,海航集團現在的年度總收入大約爲1000億美元,在全球聘用員工41萬人,在歐洲的員工爲大約17萬人。

To put HNA’s staggering growth through dealmaking in perspective: at a similar event last year, which was hosted in London’s Old Royal Navy College, HNA cited annual revenues of about $25bn in 2015 among its holdings.
