英國即將發行新版1英鎊硬幣

The new 12-sided 1 pound coin will enter circulation on March 28, the British government said.

英國政府日前聲稱，新版12邊形1英鎊硬幣將於3月28日流通。

The round 1 pound will be legal tender alongside the new coin until Oct 15.

10月15日前，圓形1英鎊硬幣和新版1英鎊硬幣均是法定貨幣。

The public are being urged to use their current 1 pound coins or bank them before they lose their legal tender status.

政府敦促民衆在目前的1英鎊硬幣失效前使用它們，或將其存在銀行。

Featuring the four symbols of the UK - a rose, leek, thistle and shamrock, the new coin is the same shape as the old three penny bit, which was withdrawn in 1971.

The new style was announced in the 2014 budget and has been billed by the Royal Mint as "the most secure coin in the world".

It uses two colors of metal, has 12 sides and includes the Royal Mint's anti-counterfeiting technology, adapted from banknotes and embedded in coins for the first time.
