全球首條太陽能公路在法國投入使用

France has opened what it claims to be the world's first solar panel road.

法國近日開通了號稱世界首條的太陽能電板公路。

The 1 km stretch of road in the small Normandy village of Tourouvre-au-Perche is paved with 2,880 solar panels, which convert energy from the sun into electricity.

這條公路位於法國諾曼底的圖魯夫爾歐佩爾什村，長一公里，道路上鋪蓋了2880塊太陽能電池板，它們將太陽能轉化爲電能。

Some 2,000 motorists will use the road every day during a two-year test period.

在兩年的試用期內，每天將有約2000輛汽車通過這一路段。

During that time, assessments will be made as to whether the road is capable of generating enough power to run the village's street lights.

Tourouvre-au-Perchef is home to around 3,400 residents. The project is said to have cost EUR5m and was financed by the French government.

In 2014, a solar-powered cycle path opened in Krommenie in the Netherlands and, despite teething problems, has generated 3,000kWh of energy – enough to power an average family home for a year.
