第26章好萊塢及好萊塢影星

David: Are there any actors or actresses that you like? Who are your favorite movie stars?

你喜歡哪些演員？你最喜歡的影星是誰？

You: Yes, I’ve got a few favorites: Tom Hanks ,Tom Cruise, and Ben Affleck. I like them very much.

我喜歡好多明星。如：湯姆 · 漢克斯，湯姆 · 克魯斯，本 · 阿福來克等。

David: Those guys are known as heartthrobs.

這些人很讓人心動。

You: What does that mean?

什麼意思？

David: Heartthrobs are men who make the heart of women throb.

就是讓女人心動的男人。

You: Oh, I see. They are quite handsome and attractive.

我明白了，他們很帥，很有吸引力。

David: Many American movies center around these movie stars. Do you have any thoughts about these kinds of American movies?

許多美國影片的賣點就是這些明星。你對這類美國電影有什麼看法？

You: I think these American movies do not reflect real life. They may be inventive or well-produced, and they may have famous stars and handsome actors, but the stories are so far from reality that they are not instructive or meaningful.

我覺得美國電影不反映現實生活。儘管美國電影構思獨特，設計新穎，製作精細，而且有很多偶像派的明星，但故事太脫離實際，沒有什麼精神價值。

David: So maybe these movies are more about the action, but there’s no moral to the story.

也許這些電影更多的關注情節，因而缺乏實際的社會意義。

You ：Exactly! I couldn’t have put it better myself!

沒錯，我就是這個意思！

tthrob n. 心跳，柔情；心儀的對象。此處使用第二個含義，即喜歡的電影明星。

She really catch my heartthrob at the first sight.

初見之下，我對她一見傾心。

ntive adj. 發明的；有發明才能的；獨出心裁的。是指有風格敢創新的特徵。其動詞形式是 invent，發明創造創新。

Inventive minds are necessary in industrial design.

工業設計領域需要創新型人才。

ructive adj. 有益的；教育性的。同上一個形容詞的來源，也是由動詞變化而來： instruct vt.指導，通知，命令，教授。此處使用其指導教育的相關含義，作“有益的，教育意義的”之意。

brity n. 名人，知名人士，享有盛譽的人。

Among all the celebrities, I hate Yang Mi most, for her infamous singers' champion.

在所有的名人中，我最討厭楊冪，因爲她不是靠實力贏取的最佳歌手獎。
