看《硅谷》學口語：在這件事上我贏不了！

Richard自從拒絕了1000萬開始創建自己的公司後，各種問題不斷，雖然幾近奔潰，但他似乎總能找到解決的辦法。本期英語君繼續和大家分享美劇《硅谷》裏的實用美式口語表達。

1. I’ll be back in a flash.

我馬上回來。

Notes: “flash”作爲名詞指“閃光，閃現，一瞬間”。短語“in a flash”顧名思義，表示“時間極短，一瞬間”。還是很形象滴！如果你想對同伴說你很快就回來，除了例句，比較常用的是“I'll be right back.”例如：

I’m gonna buy some ice cream. Stay here. I’ll be back in a flash.

我去買冰激凌。在這兒等會兒。我很快回來。

2. I can’t argue with this.

這點我倒是無法爭辯了。

Notes: “argue with”這個短語後面可加人，也可加事件。前者表示“與某人爭論”，後者表示“爭論/不同意/不接受某件事，某個觀點”。如果想表達你對於某件事無法爭辯，也許是因爲你同意，也許是因爲你無語，都可以用例句“I can’t argue with this.”來表達。例如：

He is the best interpreter here. Who can argue with this?

他是這兒最好的翻譯。誰能說不是呢？

3. Ok, you see? This is the case in point.

看到了嗎？這就是我要說的。

Notes：例句中的“case”在此處是名詞，指“實例”；短語“in point”表示“恰當的，合適的”；“a case in point”自然就是“恰當的例子”。例如：

The world is changing dramatically. A case in point is the invention of artificial intelligence.

世界正發生巨大的變化。人工智能的發明是個很好的例子。

4. Look. I’m going to be straight with you. You’ll burn through the rest of your runway, no one will step in, then you will go bust.

聽着，我跟你說明白。你會花光手頭的資金，沒有人會投資，接着你就破產了。

Notes:“be straight with”這個口語表達指“對……坦白”，後面常加人作賓語，指對某人說實話；“go bust”這句俚語的意義簡單明瞭，表示“破產，失敗”。例如：

What’s on earth happening here? Be straight with me, please.

到底怎麼了？跟我說實話吧。

Starting your own business is not easy. What would you do if you go bust?

創業維艱。如果你破產了怎麼辦？

5. Here’s the headline: there’s a lot right with it. A lot of good stuff in there.

重要的是：這幅畫有很多亮點。有很多好的方面。

Notes：“headline”這個單詞指“大標題，頭版頭條新聞”等，就是表示一件事的重點。“Here’s the headline.”可以引起對方關注你要說的重點，真是形象又俏皮的口語表達。例如：

Here’s the headline. It’s a fantastic picture book for adults.

重點是這是一本優秀的成人繪本。

6. God, I can’t win with that.

天哪！我在這件事上就是贏不了。

Notes:“win with that”也是個口語裏的習慣表達，表示“會贏的”。“I can’t win with that.”指相反的意思“就是贏不了”。如果你在討論某件事時（總）贏不了，就可以使用這個句子“I can’t win with that.”對話中大家會有生動的體會，就不在這裏舉例嘍。
