貴州13歲女孩手臂扎進16根鉛筆芯 爲做作業時保持清醒

A schoolgirl in China has had 16 pencil ends removed from her arm.

中國一位女學生的手臂中已經拔出來了16根鉛筆芯。

The 13-year-old had deliberately pricked herself with pencils so that she could stay awake while doing homework in the wee hours.

這位13歲的女生是故意用鉛筆刺自己的，這樣她就能夠在做作業的這點時間裏保持清醒。

She was taken to the hospital by her family on September 13 after they discovered holes on her swollen left arm, reported Guizhou Business Daily.

據《貴州商報》報道，她在被家人發現浮腫的左臂上有小孔之後，於9月13日被送往了醫院。

According to the report, the teenage girl, known as Xiao Xue, is a middle school student in the city of Guiyang, south-west China's Guizhou province.

據該報道稱，這位十幾歲的小女孩名爲小雪，是中國西南部貴州省貴陽市的一名中學生。

doctors from Guihang 300 Hospital carried out the surgery on September 19, removing a total of 16 pencil ends, the longest of which is four centimetres (1.5 inches).

貴航300醫院的醫生於9月19日給她做了手術，拔出了總計16根鉛筆芯，最長的竟有4釐米（1.5英尺）長。

After the operation, Xiao Xue's family told the doctor that the girl had deliberately pricked herself so that the pain could keep her awake in the middle of the night.

手術後，小雪的家人告訴醫生，小女孩是故意刺自己的，這樣疼痛就能夠使她在半夜保持清醒。

They said that Xiao Xue had to stay up until 2am every day in order to finish the large amount of homework she was given, especially her mathematics homework.

他們說道，爲了完成佈置的大量的家庭作業，尤其是數學作業，小雪不得不每天熬夜到凌晨2點。

The family also said Xiao Xue studied in a high-pressure environment and rarely communicated with the outside world.

家人還表示，小雪在高壓環境下學習，且很少與外部世界進行溝通。

Doctors said the pencil ends had been embedded in her arm for about a week, leading to inflammation.

醫生表示，鉛筆芯已經在她的手臂里約一週了，導致了炎症。
