英語美文欣賞：論孩子
導語:《論孩子》是由黎巴嫩詩人紀伯倫所寫。這首詩的題目雖爲《論孩子》，具體內容卻是論父母之道的。父母們常忽視了教育最爲重要的目標之一——培養獨立人格。他們總喜歡干預子女的一切重大人生選擇。本詩指出孩子是獨立的，是與父母平等的個體，父母只能給孩子以愛，卻不能代替他們思想、靈魂的形成。
Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you, yet they belong not to you.
你的兒女並不是你的兒女
他們是生命自身憧憬的兒女
他們藉助你來到這世界，卻非自你而來
並且，儘管他們在你身旁，卻並不屬於你
You may give them your love but not your thought
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their soul

你可以給予他們的是你的愛，卻不是你的思想

使他的箭可以射得又快又遠

另外，wild kid也有暱稱的意思，表示對調皮孩子的愛稱。

還有以下的高級譯法：
1、impish [ mp ] 頑童似的，似頑童的，頑皮的
e.g. Gillespie is well known for his impish sense of humour.
吉萊斯皮以他精靈搞怪的幽默感而廣爲人知。
2、elfish ['elf ] 如小精靈的，小妖精的，好惡作劇的
e.g. Or , if not, thou strange and elfish child, whence didst thou come?"
要不是這樣, 你這個怪里怪氣的小妖精似的孩子是從哪兒來的? ”
3、prankish ['pr k ] 愛開玩笑的，惡作劇的; 開玩笑性質的
不過這個詞貌似使用的不是太多呢。
當然，如果想炫耀一下廣博的詞彙量，還可以用
mischievous [ m st v s] 淘氣的; 惡作劇的; 有害的
