  3年級童話英語故事:A Clever Farmer

Uncle Sam doesn‟t like farmer. He thinks they are very foolish and only know work on the farm.

One winter morning, the sun is shining. Uncle Sam sits on the step of his house. At that moment, a farmer with a map in his hand comes to him. Farmer:Excuse me, Uncle. Can you tell me know to get to the hospital, please? Uncle Sam: Lie down in the middle of the street and you‟ll soon be at a hospital. Farmer Please set an example to me.

Uncle Sam: I think you come to our city at the first time. It‟s much more beautiful than the field. Is that right? Farmer: Yes, uncle. But it is built on the field.

Uncle Sam‟s face turns red.

聰明的農民

山姆大叔不喜歡農民。他認爲他們很愚蠢只會在農場幹活。一個冬天的早晨,陽光明媚,山姆大叔坐在門前的石階上。這時,一個農民手拿地圖向他走來。 農民:請問,大叔,去醫院的路怎麼走? 山姆大叔:你躺在街當中,很快就會在醫院的。 農民:請你做一個示範。

山姆大叔:我想你是第一次進城吧,城市比你那塊地漂亮多了,是吧?

  3年級童話英語故事:The peasant and the apple-tree

A Peasant had an Apple-tree growing in his garden, which bore no fruit, but merely served to provide a shelter from the heat for the sparrows and grasshoppers which sat and chirped in its branches. Disappointed at its barrenness he determined to cut it sparrows and the grasshoppers saw what he was about to do, they begged him to spare it, and said to him, “If you destroy the tree we shall have to seek shelter elsewhere, and you will no longer have our merry chirping to enliven your work in the garden.” He ,however, refused to listen to them, and set to work with a will to inside and contained a swarm of bees and a large store of honey. Delighted with his find he threw down his axe, saying, “The old tree is worth keeping after all.”

Utility is most men’s test of worth.

農夫和蘋果樹

有一個農夫,他的園子裏有一棵蘋果樹,這棵樹並不茂盛,只能爲麻雀和蟬提供一個可棲息的地方,讓他們坐在枝椏上歇息和喋喋不休地 。農夫認爲這棵樹沒有什麼大用處,決定把它砍掉,於是便拿起斧頭走過去砍起樹來。然而,那些蟬和麻雀看到農夫的行爲後,便請求農夫留下這棵樹,並且對他說:“如果你砍掉這棵樹,我們還得另外再找一個窩,而你也不會在園子裏幹活時聽到我們爲你鼓勁的歡快歌聲了。”農夫沒理睬他們,繼續拿起斧頭砍起這棵樹,幾斧下去之後,樹上出現一個洞,他發現樹洞裏有蜂蜜和蜂巢。他高興地連忙拋下斧頭,說:“這棵樹還真是值得保留下來。”

寓意:實用性是大多數人對價值的檢驗。

  3年級童話英語故事:The she-goats and their beards

Jupiter granted beards to the She-Goats at their own request, much to the disgust of the he-Goats, who considered this to be an unwarrantable invasion of their rights and dignities.

So they sent a deputation to him to protest against his action. He, however, advised them not to raise any objections. "What's in a tuft of hair?" said he. "Let them have it if they want it. They can never be a match for you in strength."

朱庇特答應了母山羊的請求,讓她們也長出鬍鬚,但是公山羊對此非常不高興,抱怨女人無理侵犯他們的權利和尊嚴。因此,爲了反對這一舉動,他們派出代表向朱庇特抗議。不過,朱庇特勸他們不要提出任何異議。“一綹毛髮能算什麼呢?”朱庇特說道,“如果她們想要,就讓她們擁有吧。但是她們的力量永遠無法與你們匹敵。”

One day the mice bad a meeting to talk about the way to deal with their common said this,andsome said that. At last a young mouse got up,and said that he had a good idea.“We could tie a bell around the neck of the when he comes near,we can hear the sound of the bell,and run away.”

Everyone approved of this proposal,but an old wise mouse got up and said,“That is all very well,but who will tie the bell to the cat?”The mice looked at each other,but nobody spoke.

給貓掛鈴鐺

很久以前,房子裏有隻大貓。他抓住了許多偷吃糧食的老鼠。

一天,老鼠們開會討論對付貓的辦法。有的說這樣,有有的說那樣。最後一隻小老鼠站起來,說他有一個好辦法:我們給貓的脖子上拴一個鈴當,當貓走近的時候,我們就可以聽到鈴聲,就可以逃跑了。

每個老鼠都同意這個建議,但是一隻老老鼠站起來說:那誰去給貓戴上鈴當呢?老鼠們你看我,我看你,沒人出聲了。
