河海大學General Information
基本概況Hohai University is a state key university under the direct jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education of China. It is a comprehensive university with research and study of Water resources as its main focus，education of engineering subjects as its first priority，and to ordinated development of enqineering and science，economics gement，arts and law. Under the direcl command of the Ministry of Water Resources from 1958 to 2000，the University became one of the universities of“Project 21 I”(building 100 key universities in China in the 21st century )，and one of the universities that set up Graduate School.
河海大學是一所以水利爲特色，工科爲主，理、工、經、管、文、法多學科協調發展的教育部直屬全國重點大學，1958年至2000年間隸屬水利部管理，是實施國家“211工程”重點建設以及設有研究生院的高校之一。
Hohai University has three campuses of 9 54 hectares. The main campus，covering 45 hectares，is located at the northern foot of Qingliang Hiil in Nanjing. With green shades of trees，fragrant flowers in four seasons and an elegant environwent, it is one of the 300 Best Green Campuses，and has won Jiangsu Provincial Award of Garden University. Changzhou campus，with its fine environment，was established in February 1986 in Changzhou，a city between Shanghai and gning campus of 57. 6 hectares in Jiangning Economic Development Zone of Jiangning District，Nanjing，started operation in September 2001 with superb campus construction and modern facilities for teaching and accommodation.
河海大學總佔地面積154公頃。校本部坐落在南京市清涼山北麓，環境優雅，綠樹成蔭，花香四季，衆多人文景觀更增添了校園的文化氛圍，先後榮獲全國部門綠化“三百佳”和江蘇省“花園式，;石校”稱號。學校於1986年2月在江蘇省常州一市國家級高新技術開發區設立校區，於 2001年9月正式啓用新建的河海大學江寧校區，校園建設及教學、生活設施更趨現代化。Hohai University consists of 16 colleges and departments. The University has 9 state and provincial key laboratories，6 state and provincial engineering research centers and 5 post-doctorate mobile stations. There are 3 state key disciplines，12 provincial and ministerial key disciplines，38 Ph. D. programs，124 Master programs，18 Engineering Master programs and MBA，and 46 undergraduate g them，Hydraulic Engineering and Civil Engineering take the lead in their respective field in China.
河海大學下設16個專業院系。有9個國家級以及省部級重點實驗室、6個國家級以及省部級工程研究中心、5個博士後流動站。擁有3個國家重點學科，12個省部級重點學科;38個博士點，124個碩士點，18個工程碩士專業學位領域及工商管理碩士(MBA)專業學位授權點，46個本科專業。其中水利工程、土木工程兩學科綜合實力處於全國領先位置。
There are over 30 000 degree students studying at the University in September，2006，among whom are 8 487 Master and Ph. D. candidates，and 18 448 undergraduate students.
2006年9月，各類學歷教育在校學生3萬餘名，其中研究生8 487名，本科生18 448名。There are 3 135 staff members at present, including 1 academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering，2 professors invited on“Cheungkong Scholars Program"，652 professors and associate professors，and 209 Doctorate supervisors，12 of whom are academicians of CAS and CAES.
河海大學現有教職員工3 135名，其中中國工程院院士一名，長江學者2名;正副教授652名;博士生導師209名，其中有12名院士受聘擔任學校的教授、博士生導師。Hohai Library consists of 3 libraries in three campuses respectively with a total area of over 47 000 square meters and has more than 1 .9 million books，over 1.8 million of them are in Chinese and foreign languages. There are 127 000 Chinese and English periodicals. In addition，there are over 700 000 electronic books(including CD database)
河海大學圖書館由3個校區圖書館組成，總面積約47 000平方米，館藏量達190多萬冊，其中中、外文圖書180多萬冊，中、外文期刊合訂本12. 7萬冊。另外電子圖書70多萬冊(含光盤數據庫)。As a result of hard working of several generations， Hohai University has stepped into a new stage of its development. 歷史變遷1915 Hohai Civil Engineering School，the predecessor of Hohai University，was founded.
1915年河海大學的前身河海工程專門學校創建。1924 It merged with the Department of Engineering of Southeast University into Hohai College of Engineering.
1924年與東南大學工科合併成立河海工科大學。1927 It was incorporated the Fourth Zhongshan University.
1927年並人第四中山大學。1937 It became the Department of Water Resources，Central University.
1937年成爲中央大學水利系。1949 It became the Department of Water Resources，Nanjing University.
1949年成爲南京大學水利系。1952 The Departments of Water Conservancy，Hydrology，and Water Resources of Nanjing University，Jiaotong University，Tongji University，Zhejiang Universify and the East China Engineering School of Water Resources were merged into the East China Technical University of Water Resources.
1952年由南京大學、交通大學、同濟大學、浙江大學以及華東水利專科學校的水利系科合併成立華東水利學院。1985 It resumed the original name Hohai University.
1985年恢復傳統校名河海大學。
