基本概況

Initially known as"Fudan Public SchoolFudan University was founded in the year 1905s。"Fudan"，literally meaning"(heavenly light shines)day after day"，indicates inexhaustible self-reliance and industriousness. After a century of construction，especially with the joint efforts of the Ministry of Education and Shanghai Government，Fudan University has gradually developed into a multi-discipline，research-oriented，state key and comprehensive university of humanity science，social science，natural science，technical science and management science.

復旦大學創建於1905年，原名復旦公學。“復旦”二字選自《尚書大傳·虞夏傳》中‘舊月光華，旦復旦兮”的名句，意在自強不息，寄託當時中國知識分子自主辦學、教育強國的希望。一個世紀以來，尤其是通過國家教育部和上海市共同建設，復旦大學逐步發展成爲一所人文科學、社會科學、自然科學、技術科學以及管理科學在內的多科性研究型國家重點綜合大學。

Located on the west coast of the Pacific Fudan University lies in Shanghai，the most dynamic metropolis in China. It now occupies an area of 2.52 million square meters with a floor space up to 1 .1million square meters. Fudan University has 134 laboratories of all kinds，including 5 state key laboratories and 20 provincial or ministerial key laboratories.

復旦大學位於太平洋西海岸的中國最富吸引力的大都市上海市。學校目前佔地面積252萬平方米，校舍建築面積111萬平方米。學校現有各類實驗室134個，其中5個國家重點實驗室，20個省部級重點實驗室。

Fudan University Library was formally established in 1922，previously known as the Reading Room of Wu Vllu(the year 1918)y it comprises the Liberal Arts Library，the Science Library and the nlledical Library，with its total floor space being 29000 square meters. There is a total collection of 4.4 million volumes，which ranks the first of all national universities.

復旦大學圖書館始建於1922年，前身爲戊午閱覽室(1918 )。現在有文理醫3個圖書館組成，建築面積29000平方米，現有藏書445萬冊，居全國高校前列。

Fudan consists of seventeen schools(which comprise sixty-six departments)and four independent departments. The University confers bachelor's degrees in sixty-eight academic disciplines，and master's degrees in two hundred and nine disciplines(with thirty-eight of them established by the University itself)，and doctonal degrees in twenty-two academic disciplines of Level I and one hundred and thirty-five academic disciplines of Level II(with fiwenty-four of them established by the University ifiself)e are also twenty-five research stations that offer postdoctoral fellowships.

學校現有17個學院(含66個系)和4個系68個學士學位專業，碩士學位授權點209個(其中自設38個)，一級學科博士學位授權點22個，二級學科博士學位授權點135個(其中自設24個)，並設有25個博士後科研流動站。

Fudan now has an enrollment of 44300 students of all kinds，including 3 50U doctoral candidates，7 500 master's candidates15700 undergraduates，2200 foreign students 8400 students of adult education and nearly 7000 students of online education.

學校現有各類學生近44300餘人，其中博士生3500人，碩士生 7500餘人，普通本專科生15 '}00餘人，外國留學生2200餘人，成人教育本專科生8400人，網絡教育本專科生近7000人。

Fudan boasts a qualified faculty of over 2 300 full-time teachers and researchers，including 1 350 full professors and associate professors，30 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering，746 doctoral advisors，40 chair professors and 14 lecture professors of the “Cheungkong Scholars Program”，6 chief scientists of“Project 973”and 31“Young and Middle-Aged Experts Nationally Acknowledged for Their Outstanding Achievements” the recent years，the University has been proactive in recruiting youthful strengths and optimizing the echelon of its faculty. Fudan has nine teaching hospitals，such as Zhong-shan(Dr. Sun Yat-san)Hospital and Hua-shan Hospital，which offer quality medical service to the general public，conduct clinical education to student doctors and perform advanced scientific researches.

學校擁有一支高水平的師資隊伍，現有專任教師一與科研人員2300餘人，其中教授、副教授1350餘人，中國科學院、中國工程院院士30人，博士生導師746人，教育部“長江學者獎勵計劃”特聘教授40人、講座教授14人，"973 "首席科學家6人，“國家級有突出貢獻中青年專家”31人‘:近幾年來，學校積極引進人才，實施教育一部“長江學者獎勵計劃”，涌現出一批優秀的中青年教師，優化了師資隊伍結構。學校還擁有中山、華山等9個附屬醫院，集醫療服務、臨牀教學與科研工作於一體。

The single and solitary goal of Fudan is to cultivate more and more all-round talents for modern China. 歷史變遷

1905 Initially known as"Fudan Public School"，Fudan University was founded

1905年復旦大學創建，原名復旦公學。

1917 Fudan Public School was renamed Public Fudan University.

1917年復旦公學改名爲私立復旦大學。

1937 After the breakout of the Anti-Japanese War，the university moved to hinterland Chongqing.

1937年抗日戰爭爆發後，學校內遷重慶北暗

1946 The University moved back to Shanghai.

1946年學校遷回上海江灣原址。

1952 A nationwide restructuring of institutes of higher education was initiated，and the university undertook a great adjustment of its schools and departments.

1952年全國高校院系調整，復旦大學的院系進行了大幅度的調整

2000 Shanghai Medical Universifiy and Fudan University merged to form a new Fudan University.

2000年上海醫科大學與復旦大學合併，成立新的復旦大學。
