新西蘭亞裔男子因眼睛小申請護照被拒

It's a common annoyance, you're filling out a form online and you get some error.

生活中，在網上填表格遇到問題是非常常見的煩心事。

New Zealander Richard Lee was applying for a passport online when the system objected to the image he uploaded.

來自新西蘭的理查德·李在網上申請護照時，就被系統拒絕了他所上傳的照片。

"The photo you want to upload does not meet our criteria because: subject eyes are closed," it said.

系統時這樣說的：“你想上傳的照片不符合我們的要求，因爲：拍照的人眼睛是閉着的。”

But Lee, who is of Asian descent, had his eyes open.

但是李這位亞裔男子其實是睜着眼睛的。

"I fell off my chair laughing," he told CNN. "Like, I know I have small eyes and I have no problem with it. But the fact that a computer can notice as well, that's just hilarious."

他向CNN透露稱：“我笑得從椅子上摔了下來。是這樣的，我知道我眼睛小，我也沒覺得怎麼樣。但是電腦也覺得我眼睛小的這個事實實在是太好笑了。”

After trying three more images, he phoned the passport office to ask for help. "They said it was the shadow in my eyes and the uneven lighting on the face makes it hard for the software to process," he said.

他又試着上傳了另外三張照片之後，並給護照辦理處打電話尋求幫助。他說：“他們說是因爲我眼睛裏的陰影處和我臉上不均勻的光照使得軟件無法識別。”

New Zealand's Department of Internal Affairs, which oversees the passport system, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

新西蘭的國際事務部負責該護照系統，不過他們並沒有立刻迴應此事。

Lee -- currently attending university in Melbourne, Australia -- eventually gave up and went to a local post office to get some passport photos taken. "Fortunately one of those worked," he said.

最近被澳大利亞墨爾本的大學錄取的李最後還是放棄了網上申請，去了當地的郵局重新照了護照照片。他說：“幸好有一張能用。”
