千萬別說錯！情人節不是Lovers' Day

情人節，即每年的2月14日，是西方的傳統節日之一。這是一個關於愛、浪漫以及花、巧克力、賀卡的節日。情人節的英語並不是顧名思義的Lovers' Day，而是 Valentine's Day，這個名字的背後還隱藏着一個動人的故事。

據說St. Valentine是生活在古羅馬時代的一名神父，當時的羅馬皇帝禁止人們結婚，因爲他要更多的男人加入軍隊。Valentine不同意皇帝的決定，祕密主持婚禮，成全了很多對新人，但最終還是被發現了。

The legend has it that St Valentine was a priest in ancient Rome. The emperor had forbidden marriage because he wanted men to fight in his army. Valentine didn’t agree with the emperor, so he married couples in secret and was caught.

後來，Valentine被捕入獄，慘遭殺害。他遇害的那天是2月14日，臨死前給愛人寫的信則署名 “From your Valentine”。

Valentine was thrown into jail and sentenced to death on 14 February. On the final day, he sent a love letter signed "From your Valentine" to his lover.

從那之後，人們就在2月14日這一天定爲情人節，紀念神父Valentine。

通常在情人節中，男生會把紅玫瑰作爲情人節禮物送給女孩，而女生則以一盒心形巧克力作爲回禮。
