英語中的“約數”如何表達

英語學習中，當我們要用英語表示“多於某個數”“少於某個數”或“大約在某一範圍內的數”時，常常不知所措。其實，這些問題都屬於“約數”的範疇。“約數”就是一個不確定的數。在漢語中，我們通常將其表述爲“左右”“大約”“將近”“……多”或“不足……”等。英語中“約數”的表達法有多種，現就課本中出現的幾種情況作一歸納，供同學們學習時參考。

　　一、用形容詞表達“約數”。常用的形容詞有some，many，much，few，little，severAl，enough等。如：

My friend can speak several languages.

我的朋友能說幾種語言。

Didn’the give you some money?

他難道沒有給你一些錢?

　　二、用介詞表達“約數”。常用的介詞有above，over，below,under，past等。如：

The high building is over 200 metres.

這座高樓超過200米。

Under 20 people were present then.

There is nothing in this shop above five pounds.

這家商店沒有售價超過五英鎊的商品。

當時到場人數不到20個。

　　三、 用副詞表達“約數”。常用的副詞有about，around，nearly，

almost，hardly，some等。如：

We have about forty minutes to go.

我們大約還要走40分鐘的路。

The Great Wall is around 6，700 kilometres long.

長城大約有6700公里長。

Almost no one took any rest.

幾乎沒有人休息。

　　四、用數詞表達“約數”。常用的數詞有tens，hundreds，thousands，millions及billions等。用這些數詞表示約數時，其後通常跟介詞of。如：

Tens of thousands of trees will be planted there.

那裏將種植成千上萬棵樹。

Hundreds of Young Pioneers will visit the new factory.

成千上萬名少先隊員將參觀這座新工廠。

　　五、用詞組表達“約數”。常用的詞組有or so，more or less，a number of，less than,more than等。如：

There are ten books or so in my schoolbag.

我書包裏大約有10本書。

The car went sixty kilometres，more or less.

這輛汽車走了60公里左右。

I have a number of things to do.

我有許多事情要做。

另外，用“or”也可表達“約數”。如：

He goes there once every two or three days.

他每隔兩三天去那裏一次。

他一兩天就回來。
