如何緊扣評分標準回答?邏輯思維是關鍵

想想看吧，這兩道題目的答題時間只不過纔有45秒的時間，“Firstly… Secondly… Finally…”，每個理由(方面)最多隻有15秒的時間闡述。於是，如此的應答無論如何都無法做到“well developed”。而說出並組織三個理由(方面)實際上還有思考壓力(想出三個理由有多麼不容易，請參見《如何做到Well Organized--模式運用一例》)。

所以，應對口語考試部分前兩道題的一個優勢策略叫做“一又二分之一策略”。

具體來說，就是用2/3甚至更長的時間詳細闡述(elaborate)一個主要理由(方面)，而又用1/3甚至更短的時間隨便再加上一個理由(方面)。

比如，我的一位學生在考場上遇到的題目是這樣的：

Which season do you like most? Why?

這位同學的回答乾脆、簡潔而又樸素：

I like winters most…

之後提供了一個理由：

… because there’s no mosquitoes in winters.

接下來說的大抵上都與蚊子有關(以下是該考生事後的回憶轉述)：

夏天的時候，蚊子們非常可怕，我們住在19樓它們竟然也飛得上來。每天晚上睡覺前全家三口人都要想辦法滅蚊子，可是用盡了各種手段也做不到消滅每一隻蚊子。到了半夜，我總是被蚊子鬧醒，每天都睡不好。我就感覺那些文字恨不得把我生生吃掉2 ……可是早上醒來，卻發現爸爸媽媽都沒事兒，真不知道蚊子們爲什麼字叮我一個人……

其實這位同學在考場上只這個理由就沒有說完，剛說到“早上醒來卻發現爸爸……”的時候，已經45秒鐘用盡了。最終，這位同學的口語部分成績是29分3 。

假設這位同學把這一個理由(方面)全都說完了之後發現剛剛用掉35秒鐘，還有10來秒鐘，那怎麼辦?很簡單，接着說“In addition, …”然後再隨便加上一個理由--這麼做的思考壓力實際上要比一口氣說出三個理由小得多。比如後面可以接着說：

還有就是冬天會下雪，下雪的時候整個世界都會變得非常美麗，一切都顯得那麼純潔……

其實，這個理由(方面)幾乎註定是說不完的，因爲無論如何時間分配給它的時間都太短。但這並無所謂，因爲所做的一切已經足夠滿足口語考試的評分標準。

而託福口語考試的後四道題，都是在考覈考生的“複述能力”。

對大多數考生來說，真正的難點並不在於“聽不懂”或者是“讀不懂”，而在於是否記得住。只要有足夠的英文記憶力，能夠記得住剛剛聽懂的、讀懂的內容，“轉述”本身難度其實非常低，因爲其中所需要的“措辭能力”是在練習作文的時候早就解決了的事情。平時多背背句子，其實並不是僅僅爲了將來有機會“直接用到”那麼膚淺，而是爲了不斷擴充自己的“內存”大小，提高自己的英文記憶力，進而在各個方面都有意外的斬獲。
