讓英語習語爲你的口語加特效

英語口語中加入習語表達,能夠增加你口語表現力.也爲你的口語增色不少

1. on fire

本意是着火,在口語中常用來表示一個人狀態特別好,手感特別好,表現得很好,也可以用來形容一個事物非常好

例句:

Damn, that party was on fire.
我去,那派對簡直不要太贊。

You are on fire today.
你今天狀態特別好/火力全開啊。

2. get the hang of

指在經過練習之後摸清某物的用法,得知某事的竅門(to succeed in learning how to do something after practising it)

例句:

I finAlly got the hang of this Macbook.
我終於學會怎麼使用這臺蘋果筆記本電腦了。

3. pay through the nose

花大價錢買某物

例句:

If you bring a car into the city, you have to pay through the nose for parking it.
如果你要開車到那個城市裏,就得花高價停車。

4. feel the pinch

雙十一買買買之後的你有沒有感覺自己已經連土都吃不起了呢?Feel the pinch的意思是手頭拮据、經濟出現困難

例句:

When her husband lost his job, she really started to feel the pinch.
她老公丟了工作以後,她真正開始感到手頭拮据了。

5. Chances are pretty good (that)...

很有可能......,後面表述原因

例句:

Alone on Instagram? Chances are pretty good your pictures suck.
你的Instagram沒人氣?很可能是因爲你的照片太挫了。

Got no boyfriend? Chances are pretty good you're ugly.
木有男友?很可能因爲你太醜了。

6. a kick in the teeth

極度的失望,沉重的打擊,重大的挫折

例句:

The Government's decision is a real kick in the teeth for the unions.
政府的決定是對工會的沉重打擊.

Not being accepted by colleges is surely a kick in the teeth for an excellent student like Kate.
對像凱特這樣優秀的學生來說,沒被大學錄取肯定是一個重大打擊。

7. waiting in the wings

Wings原本是指劇院裏演員等候上臺的地方,字面意思是等待上臺表演,如今引申爲做好準備等待機遇的到來,翹首以待(to be ready to be used or employed)

例句:

They say Bob will be fired and I'm waiting in the wings to take over.
據說鮑勃將被辭掉,我坐等接任他的職位。

8. weak at the knees

(通常指因看到或談到非常喜歡的人或讓人害怕、激動的事而)無法站穩,膝蓋發軟的,腿發軟的

例句:

The very thought of jumping off the bridge made him go weak at the knees.
想到要跳下橋他嚇得腿都軟了。

The thought of kissing him made me go weak at the knees.
吻他的念頭令我膝蓋發軟。

9. put your foot in your mouth

無意中說錯話而傷害了別人

例句:

I certainly put my foot in my mouth at the party last night when I asked Mr. Brown to say hello to his wife for me. Somehow I'd forgotten that his wife died six months ago.
我昨晚在那個聚會上無意中說錯了話。我讓布朗先生代我向他太太問好。我不知怎地竟忘了他太太已經在半年前去世了。

10. no sweat

這個俚語意思就相當於no problem,no difficulty,do not worry

例句:

Of course I can have your laptop repaired by noon. No sweat.
我當然可以在中午前把你的筆記本電腦修好。沒問題不用擔心。

11. get to the bottom of something

搞清楚某事,徹查某事,對…尋根究底(to get an understanding of the causes of something)

例句:

There is clearly something wrong here, and I need to get to the bottom of it.
這顯然有什麼不對的地方,我要徹底搞清楚。

12. put up or shut up

要麼行動要麼就閉嘴,有點類似於網上流行的“You can you up, no can no bb(你行你上啊,不行別逼逼)”

例句:

You keep saying you're going to ask her out. Well, put up or shut up.
你一直說要約她去約會,那麼,要麼行動起來,要麼就閉嘴。
