1. 在眨眼之間

blink是“眨眼”，所以說in the blink of an eye就是一眨眼，瞬間。

In the blink of an eye, he was gone.一眨眼他就不見了。

2. I'm not a micromanager.

2. 我不喜歡事必躬親。

▲盧克要完成一個大型的課題，克萊爾希望菲爾監督盧克完成，但是菲爾不想插手幫助盧克。

micromanage的意思是“細節管理”，這裏引伸爲關注小事事必躬親。

The head teacher shouldn't be trying to micromanage what happens in the classroom.

校長不應該對課堂上發生的事情采取細節管理的方式。

3. I'm gonna stand over you.

3. 一直監督着你。

stand over sb的意思是“站在近旁觀察（某人）做事”。

這一集裏，還反覆提到了一個短語“stay on”，也有監督的意思。

stay on的本意是“留下繼續（工作、學習等）”，比如：

Gill decided to stay on at university to do further research.

吉爾決定留在大學繼續深造。

4. I better go mop this up.

4. 我最好過去解釋一下。

mop就是拖把，mop sth up的本意是（用布或拖把）吸乾淨；用拖把擦去，也表示“結束，完成”。

It took a week to mop up the last of the enemy soldiers (= defeat them).

徹底消滅敵軍殘部花了一個星期。

5. This is the funny thing about growing up. For years and years, everybody's desperately afraid to be different, you know, in any way. And then, suddenly, almost overnight, everybody wants to be different, and that is where we win.

5. 但是成長的可笑之處就在這裏。在多年的時間中，大家都很害怕，標新立異，異於常人。然後突然間，幾乎是一夜之間，大家又都想異於常人，那就是我們勝利的時候。

這裏的count on有期待之意，而count on sb表示“依靠…；指望…”。
