Study habits are a very individual thing. Some people like to study alone, while others like tostudy with a group. Personally, I would rather study alone, but I can see advantages to bothways.
It can be very helpful to study with other students. For one thing, you can exchangeinformation about the topic. Not everyone is going to hear everything the teacher says in aring notes is a good way to be sure you get what you missed. You can also discussvarious aspects of the topic. Other students can bring a different perspective to thediscussion. They can point out things you may not have thought of , and help you make yourarguments clearer.
Studying with other students can also help keep you focused on studying. If you’re in a studygroup, you have to be at a particular place to study at a particular time. This is gooddiscipline. The group reviews all the material available and then begins studying. There’s not alot of wasted time, if things work the way they should.
Of course, it doesn’t help if you’re in a study group that doesn’t take studying seriously. Thenyou’d be much better of studying by yourself. If you’re trying to study with friends and all theywant to do is talk about other things, you’d get more done going somewhere to study byyourself. Being with people who don’t want to study can mean you’ll be constantly e’ll be a lot of interruptions, and you won’t gain much hearing they points of view on astudy subject.
Finally, whether you study alone or in a group depends a lot on your own study habits and onyour personality. If you need absolute quiet to study, then you’re better off alone. If you’re avery social person, then you’re better off studying alone, too: you’ll be too tempted to socializeinstead of studying. This is the reason I prefer studying alone. When I’m with other people, Iwant to play, I don’t want to work.

If I had enough money to buy either a house or a business, I’d buy a house. A business maysucceed or fail. It’s also possible I might change my mind about what I wanted to do inbusiness. However, a home is a lifetime gift to myself.
Right now I’m in small apartment, with barely enough room for everything. All my furniture andthings I’ve accumulated since I left college barely fit. I have almost no closet space left. Thismeans my clothes are always wrinkled because they’re crushed together. I don’t have any placeto put my cleaning supplies, nor room for more than one set of sheets and towels. A newhouse would mean a lot more room for all these things.
I love having plants around. It’s very healthy for the air inside and it’s cheerful to have livingthings growing in a room. I’d like to have a garden instead. That way I could grow a lot ofdifferent kinds of plants and flowers, and I could have a vegetable garden in the summer.
Besides having a garden, I’d like to have a backyard with lots of trees and a small fountain inthe corner. I love watching birds and listening to them sing. On the windowsill of my apartment,I put out bird seed every morning. In the hot weather, I put out a shallow tin plate with waterin it for birds. The trees and the fountain in my backyard would gibe me pleasure, but they’dreally be for the birds. The trees would give them a place to nest, and the fountain would be asource of fresh water when it’s hot.
Can you picture my dream house? A business would only give me money. A house would giveme someplace special to be myself.

Ecologists pointed out that a cluster of tall buildings in a city often overburdens public transportation and parking lot capacities.
Skyscrapers are also lavish consumers, and wasters, of electric power. In one recent year, the addition of 17 million square feet of skyscraper office space in New York City raised the peak daily demand for electricity by 120, 000 kilowatts -- enough to supply the entire city of Albany, New York, for a day.
Glass-walled skyscrapers can be especially wasteful. The heat loss (or gain) through a wall of half-inch plate glass is more than ten times that through a typical masonry wall filled with insulation board. To lessen the strain on heating and air-conditioning equipment, builders of skyscrapers have begun to use double-glazed panels of glass, and reflective
glasses coated with silver or gold mirror films that reduce glare as well as heat gain. However, mirror-walled skyscrapers raise the temperature of the surrounding air and affect neighboring buildings.
Skyscrapers put a severe strain on a city's sanitation facilities, too. If fully occupied, the two World Trade Center towers in New York City would alone generate 2.25 million gallons of raw sewage each year -- as much as a city the size of Stanford, Connecticut, which has a population of more than 109, 000.
