Lots of people lose hope at the so-cAlled 11th hour1. In sports terms, we say that they lose hope just before the finishing line. They don’t think that they can be winners in life, but the truth is they can.

The 11th hour is the point when most people feel the pain. It is an important moment that decides whether you succeed or not. Champions always put in extra effort to become winners and succeed. Those who don’t put in extra effort leave the race with nothing. All they need to win the race is a little extra effort at that last point. This is the difference between winners and losers.

I know you have the ability to be a champion. The race will not be easy, but it can be won. You need to put in extra effort when trying to achieve your goal. Just do a little bit more. This is what will separate you from others who seek to be where you are. When you want to give up or slow down because you feel tired, try to keep on going until you reach the finishing line. You can do it because you still have strength within you.

A man once had four sons who never stopped quarrelling with one another.

He was always telling them how much easier life would be if they worked together but they took absolutely no notice of him.

One day he decided to show them what he meant.

He called all the sons together and put a tightly tied bundle of sticks on the floor in front of them.

"Can you break that?" he asked the youngest son. The boy put his knee on the bundle but though he pressed and pulled with his arms he could not bend the wood.

The father asked each son in turn to try to break the bundle, but none of them could do it .

Then he untied the string and scattered the sticks.

"Now try,"he said. The boys broke the sticks easily in their hands.

"Do you see what I mean?" asked the father. "If only you stand together no one can hurt you .

If you all disagree the whole time and insist on going your separate ways, the first enemy you meet will be able to destroy you.'

雕像

Once there lived a man among the hills, who possessed a statue wrought by an ancient master,at lay at his door face downward and he was not mindful of it.

One day there passed by his house a man from the city, a man of knowledge, and seeing thestatue he inquired of the owner if he would sell it.

The owner laughed and said, "and pray who would want to buy that dull and dirty stone?"

The man from the city said, "I will give you this piece of silver for it." And the other man wasastonished and delighted.

The statue was removed to the city, upon the back of an elephant.

And after many months the man from the hills visited the city, and as he walked the streets hesaw a crowd before a shop, and a man with a loud voice was crying, "

Come in and behold the most beautiful, the most wonderful statue in all the world. Only twosilver pieces to look upon this most marvelous work of a master. "

There upon the man from the hills paid two silver pieces and entered the shop to see thestatue that he himself had sold for one piece of silver.

Ask your heart what it wants

We’re often confused at the next step to take, making pros and cons lists until our eyes bleed and our brains are sore. Instead of always taking this approach, what if we engaged a new part of ourselves that isn’t usually involved in the decision making process?

I know we’ve all felt decisions or actions that we had to take simply due to our “gut” impulses: when asked, we can’t explain the reasons behind doing so — just a deep knowing that it had to get done. This instinct is the part of ourselves we’re approaching for answers.

To start this process, take few deep breaths then ask, “Heart, what decision should I make here? What action feels the most right?”

See what comes up, then engage and evaluate the outcome.
