　　桃李不言下自成蹊

Duing the Western Han Dynasty(206 B.C.- A.D.24)Period, there was a very faMous general whose name was Li Guang. He was very brave and skillful in battle, and had fought more than seventy battles with the Huns, an ancient nationality in ng made brilliant achievements in war, he was deeply loved and esteemed by the officers and men as well as the common people. However,he did not claim credit for himself and become arrogant,although he held a high post,commanding a big army,and had rendered outstanding service in defending the county.

西漢時候，有一位勇猛善戰的將軍，名叫李廣，一生跟匈奴打過七十多次仗，戰功卓著，深受官兵和百姓的愛戴。李廣雖然身居高位，統領千軍萬馬，而且是保衛國家的功臣。

He was not only polite and amiable, but also shared weal and woe with the soldiers. He always had the troops under his commandat heart,and whenever gifts were bestowed to him by the imperial government,he distributed the gifts to his officers and men. When marching, he endured the torments of hunger and thirst as the soldiers did when food and water were in short supply. When fighting, he charged at the head of his men,and ,when he gave the order,every soldier advanced bravely to engage in fighting,not fearing death.

但他一點也不居功自傲。他不僅待人和氣，還能和士兵同甘共苦。每次朝廷給他的賞賜，他首先想到的是他的部下，就把那些賞賜統統分給官兵們;行軍打仗時，遇到糧食或水供應不上的情況，他自己也同士兵們一樣忍飢挨餓;打起仗來，他身先士卒，英勇頑強，只要他一聲令下，大家個個奮勇殺敵，不懼犧牲。

一天，玉皇大帝召見雄兔上天宮，它依依不捨地離開妻兒，踏着雲彩上天宮去。正當它來到南天門時，看到太白金星帶領天將押着嫦娥從身邊走去。兔仙不知發生了什麼事，就問旁邊一位看守天門的天神。聽完她的遭遇後，兔仙覺得嫦娥無辜受罪，很同情她。但是自己力量微薄，能幫什麼忙呢?想到嫦娥一個人關在月宮裏，多麼寂寞悲傷，要是有人陪伴就好了，忽然想到自己的四個女兒， 它立即飛奔回家。

The Moon Fairy rabbit tell the female rabbit, and a child to say with the goddess of the moon. The female rabbit though deeply sympathize with the moon, but loathe to give up their baby daughter, this is tantamount to the heart of flesh cut it! Daughters also reluctant to leave their parents, with tears in her eyes. The male rabbit sincere words and earnest wishes to say: "if I were alone, shut up, you are willing to accompany me? The moon in order to save the people, compromised, we can sympathize with her? The children, we can't think only about yourself!"

兔仙把嫦娥的遭遇告訴雌兔，並說想送一個孩子跟嫦娥作伴。雌兔雖然深深同情嫦娥，但是又捨不得自己的寶貝女兒，這等於是割下它心頭的肉啊!幾個女兒也捨不得離開父母，一個個淚流滿面。雄兔語重心長地說道：“如果是我孤獨地被關起來，你們願意陪伴我嗎?嫦娥爲了解救百姓，受到牽累，我們能不同情她嗎?孩子，我們不能只想到自己呀!”

The children understand the father's heart, all wants to go. Two rabbits with tears in his eyes, smiled. They decided to let the youngest daughter.

孩子們明白了父親的心，都表示願意去。雄兔和雌兔眼裏含着淚，笑了。它們決定讓最小的女兒去。

The little moon farewell parents and sisters, flying to the moon to live!

小玉兔告別父母和姐姐們，飛到了月宮陪伴嫦娥居住了!

　　The Selfish Giant

　　自私的巨人

Every afternoon, as they were coming from school, the children used to go and play in the Giant's garden.

每天下午，孩子們放學回來，總會去巨人的花園裏玩耍。

It was a large lovely garden, with soft green grass. Here and there over the grass stood beautiful flowers like stars, and there were twelve peach-trees that in the spring-time broke out into delicateblossoms of pink and pearl, and in the autumn bore rich fruit. The birds sat on the trees and sang so sweetly that the children used to stop their games in order to listen to them. "How happy we are here!" they cried to each other.

這是一個可愛的大花園，長滿了柔嫩的青草。草叢間到處盛開着美麗的鮮花，如繁星點點。花園裏還有十二棵桃樹，每到春天，粉紅色和珍珠色的花朵姣美誘人，到了秋天樹上果實累累。鳥兒棲息在枝頭動聽地唱着，孩子們都禁不住停止遊戲，細心聆聽。“我們在這兒多麼快樂!”他們互相歡叫。

One day the Giant came back. 1-1e had been to visit his friend the Cornish ogre, and had stayed with him for seven years. After the seven years were over he had said all that he had to say, for his conversation was limited, and he determined to return to his own he arrived he saw the children playing in the garden.

有一天巨人回來了。他去拜訪康沃爾的怪物朋友，和他一起住了七年。七年結束了，巨人說完了想說的話，因爲他的話總有個盡頭，他決定回到自己的城堡。當他到家的時候，看見孩子們正在花園裏玩耍。

"What are you doing here?" he cried in a very gruff voice, and the children ran away.

“你們在這兒做什麼‘!”他非常粗暴地喊道，孩子們跑開了。

"My own garden is my own garden," said the Giant; "any one can understand that, and I will allow nobody to play in it but myself." So he built a high wall all round it, and put up a notice-board.

“我自己的花園就是我自己的，”巨人說道，“隨便什麼人都明白。除了我以外，我不允許任何人在花園裏玩。”於是他在花園的四周砌起了高高的圍牆，支起一塊告示牌。
