　經典三國曆史故事：回荊州

This is story from Three Kingdoms.

Tricked by Zhou Yu, Liu Bei married Sun Shangxiang, Sun Quan's younger sister. After the wedding ceremony, Liu Bei stayed in the state of Wu. In light of Zhuge Liang's plan, Zhao Yun made a fAlse report to Liu Bei before his departure, saying that Cao Cao was attacking Jingzhou. He urged Liu Bei to go back.

周瑜設計，讓劉備和孫權的妹妹孫尚香成親。婚後，劉備一直住在東吳。越雲按臨行前諸葛亮設的計策：假稱曹操攻打荊州，催劉備回去。

Believing it was true, Liu Bei discussed the matter with his wife and decided that they would pretend to offer sacrifice to the ancestors at the river and would leave the Southland under the escort(護送) of Zhao Yun without announcing day came and Liu Bei and his wife headed to the river. Suddenly, generals and soldiers sent by Zhou Yun arrived. Liu Bei was frightened. He rushed to the front of Lady Sun's carriage and appealed tearfully to her: "When your elder brother and Zhou Yu conspired to call me to the Southland to marry you, they did not do so for your sake. All they wanted was to confine(限制) me so that they could retake Jingzhou, and after that to kill me. But I came, because I admire you. Today, no one but you can save me. If you are not willing, I prefer to die here before your eyes."

劉備信以爲真，和周瑜派追兵趕來，劉備十分驚慌，於是來到車前泣告孫夫人說："你哥哥和周瑜合謀將你嫁給我，是想用美人計殺我，再奪回荊州。我冒死前來，是敬慕夫人的名聲，今天只有夫人出面才能解救，如夫人不出面，我只有一死。

Upon hearing this, Lady Sun rolled up the front curtain of her carriage, and shouted to the generals from the state of Wu: "Are you in revolt? Zhou Yu, The renegade, the traitor!" she cried. "What injury has the Sun family ever done to you? Liu Bei is my husband. Both my mother and my brother were informed that I would return to Jingzhou. Does this blockage maea you're going to plunder(掠奪，搶劫) our goods?" She denounced(譴責，揭發) Zhou Yu loudly and then ordered her carrige moved forward.

孫夫人一聽，立即捲起車簾，大聲對追兵說："你們想造反嗎?周瑜這個賊子，我東吳不曾虧待於他。劉備是我丈夫，我母親和我哥哥知道我要回荊州，難道你們是來搶我們的財物嗎?"孫夫人一面大罵周瑜，一面讓人推車前進。

The carriage had hardly advanced five or six li when the second pair of commanders sent by Sun Quan arrived. Lady Sun let Liu Bei proceed. She herself and Zhao Yun held the rear. Lady Sun regarded the two commanders sternly and spoke reproachfully: "You have come between my brother and me. My mother has sanctioned our trip back to Jingzhou. Even my brother has to conform to what ritual enjoins(命令，吩咐) . Do these weapons mean you want to murder me?" The commanders stared at one another helplessly.

"又走了不到五、六裏，孫權派兵將趕來。孫夫人讓劉備先走，自己和趙雲在後，並叱喝來人說："你們專門挑撥我兄妹不合，我奉母命回荊州，便是我哥哥來了也得以禮送行，難道你們想害我嗎?"來將不敢說話。

Though Liu Bei was nowhere to be seen, Zhao Yun waw right there, ready for bloody combat, eyes angry and wide-staring. At last, the generals had to withdraw. Later when another two generals arrived with Sun Quan's sword, Liu Bei and Lady Sun were already on one of the boats led by Zhuge Liang, heading for Jingzhou. Later the people said: Trapped a second time in his own tricks, Zhou Yu tasted humiliation added to rage.

一看又無劉備，只有趙雲怒目而視。只得回營稟報。待追兵再帶孫權寶劍趕到江邊時，諸葛亮已親自帶船接應，把劉備和孫夫人接回荊州。

　經典三國曆史故事：江東赴會

This is a story from Three Kingdoms.

Zhou Yu of Wu Kingdom was a strategist but he was narrow-minded and jealous of people smarter than him. So he had always been thinking of killing Zhuge Liang and Liu Bei of Shu Kingdom.

東吳的周瑜雖有計謀，但心胸狹窄妒賢嫉能，一心想害劉備和諸葛亮。

One day, he invited Liu Bei to cross the river, while did not let Zhuge Liang-who was then staying in Wu for help-know about it. Zhou Yu was very glad when he saw Liu Bei's coming. He had arranged an armed man to kill Liu Bei at the banquet(宴會，盛宴) when he threw a cup to the ground as the signal.

一天，他瞞着正在東吳幫助決策的諸葛亮，請劉備過江，意欲殺害劉備。周瑜見到劉備後很高興，以爲計謀就要得逞，並安排好刀斧手，準備在宴席上摔杯爲號把劉備殺掉。

Zhuge Liang was surprised when he discovered Liu Bei were meeting with Zhou Yu. Anxiously he went to the tent and relieved to see Liu Bei had Guan Yu standing behind to protect him. Then he went to a small boat by the river, waiting for them to come back.

諸葛亮探得劉備過江，大吃一驚，急忙前去救主，走到帳外往裏一看，原來劉備後面有關羽保護，隨之放心而去，在江邊一條小船上等候劉備的到來。

At the banquet, host and guest had savored(盡情享用) several rounds of wine when Zhou Yu stood up, cup in hand. Observing Lord Guan, hand on sword, Zhou Yu inquired who he was, "My younger brother, Guan Yunchang," replied Liu Bei. "Not the one who cut down generals Yan Liang and Wen Chou?" Zhou Yu asked nervously. "The same," Liu Bei answered. Zhou Yu, alarmed, broke out in a cold sweat. He poured a cup for Lord Guan and drank with him and said, "You are really famous for you have slain six generals and breached five passes!"

酒過數巡，周瑜起身給劉備敬酒，見劉備身後站一員大將，威風凜凜，按劍而立，忙問是誰?劉備說："這是我二弟關雲長。"周瑜說："就是斬顏良，誅文丑的關雲長嗎?"劉備說："是。"周瑜驚得出了一身冷汗，馬上給關羽斟酒恭維道："將軍斬顏、誅文丑，過五關斬六將，天下聞名啊!"

When Liu Bei asked where Zhuge Liang was, Zhou Yu said he'd better meet him when Cao Cao was defeated. Lord Guan eyed Liu Bei, who sensed his brother's intent and rose to bid Zhou Yu farewell. Zhou Yu made no effort to detain his guests.

劉備要見諸葛亮，周瑜說待破曹後才能見到。關羽給劉備使眼色，劉備會意，起身告辭。周瑜也不相留。

When Liu Bei and Lord Guan reached the edge of the river, where they were happy to find Zhuge Liang in his boat. "My lord," said Zhuge Liang , "You were in more danger than you knew today. If not for Lord Guan, Zhou Yu would have killed you."

行至江邊見諸葛亮在船上等候，很高興。諸葛亮說："你今天過江很危險，周瑜本意殺你，要不是雲長在場，他就得逞了!"
