研究顯示 每週工作超39小時就會影響健康大綱

The average working week should be capped at 39 hours in order to protect workers' mental and physical health, according to a latest research from the Australian National University (ANU).

澳大利亞國立大學最近的一項研究表明,爲保護員工的心理和身體健康,平均每週的工作時間應該控制在39小時以內。

Researchers said that working long hours takes a significant toll on general well-being as well as the mental health of workers and have recommended the work limit be set at 39 hours per week, down from the 48-hour week standard set internationally around 80 years ago.

據研究人員表示,長時間工作對員工的總體幸福感和心理健康都有影響。他們建議將每週的工作時間限制在39小時以內,低於80年前設定的國際標準每週48小時。

The ANU's Dr. Huong Dinh said around two-thirds of all Australians currently working full time are at work for more than 40 hours per week.

"Long work hours erode a person's mental and physical health, because it leaves less time to eat well and look after themselves properly," Dinh said in a statement

Dinh said a healthy work limit for women and those who do a lot of domestic work should be 34 hours per week, while those who do not engage in other domestic work could work up to 47 hours a week while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

Huong Dinh表示,對於婦女和那些做很多家務的人來說,健康的工作時間應該是每週不超過34個小時,而那些不幹其他家務的人,每週工作47個小時也可以維持一個健康的工作與生活的平衡。

Co-researcher Professor Lyndall said striking a work-life balance was crucial to maintaining a healthy life.

"Australia needs to do more to change attitude to work and to support men to take time to care without penalty or prejudice. Australians also need to dispel the widespread belief that people need to work long hours to do a good job," he said.
