Out of 2.7m members registered on several Japanese dating websites, only one of them was a woman.

The scam sites are believed to have defrauded more than ￡34m since they were set up in 2004.

But when the men suggested meeting, the "women" would inevitably refuse.

They interacted with male members through messages or emails.
