美國與墨西哥達成新的貿易協定

The US has reached a trade agreement with Mexico that would pave the way for overhauling the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), US President Donald Trump announced last Monday.

美國總統唐納德·特朗普上週一宣佈，美國已與墨西哥達成貿易協定，這將爲修訂《北美自由貿易協定》鋪平道路。

"We're going to call it the US-Mexico trade agreement," Trump said at an event in the Oval Office with outgoing Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto joining by phone call.

特朗普在橢圓形辦公室的一個活動上表示：“我們將稱此協議爲《美墨貿易協定》”。當日即將卸任的墨西哥總統恩裏克·佩納·涅託並不在場，他是通過電話參與的。

"We'll get rid of the name NAFTA. It has a bad connotation because the US was hurt very badly by NAFTA for many years," he said.

特朗普稱：“我們將棄用《北美自由貿易協定》的名稱，因爲多年來美國深受其害，該名稱有着很不好的內涵。”

Pena Nieto insisted during the phone call that Canada also should be included in a final deal.

通話期間，佩納·涅託要求，加拿大也應加入最終協定。

"It is our wish, Mr. President, that now Canada will also be able to be incorporated in all this. And I assume that they are going to carry out negotiations on the sensitive bilateral issues between Canada and the United States," he said through a translator.

他通過一名翻譯表示：“主席先生，我們的願望是，現在加拿大也將能夠加入這一協定。我認爲他們將就加拿大和美國之間敏感的雙邊問題進行談判。”

Trump said he would speak with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in a little while and hoped to resume negotiations with Canada soon.

特朗普表示，隨後將與加拿大總理賈斯汀·特魯多對話，希望很快和加拿大恢復談判。

"One way or another we'll have a deal with Canada. It'll either be a tariff on cars or it'll be a negotiated deal," he said. "Frankly, a tariff on cars is a much easier way to go. But perhaps the other would be much better for Canada."

他說道：“無論如何，美國會與加拿大達成協議。我們要麼對從加拿大進口的汽車徵收關稅，要麼會在談判後達成某種協議。坦率地講，徵收進口汽車關稅要簡單得多，但對加拿大而言，與美國達成協議肯定會帶來更多好處。”
