只要身邊有愛,生活就有希望範例
In the summer of my eleventh year the home I had grown up in burned to the ground in the middle of the night.
Thankfully, my Mom, Dad, Nana, brothers, and I escaped along with our dogs.
幸運的是，我的爸爸、媽媽、奶奶、幾個哥哥，還有我，包括我們養的幾條狗，都逃了出來。Yet, we had nothing but the night clothes we were sleeping in.
不過，除了穿着睡覺的一身睡衣，我們也一無所剩了。
I spent the rest of that night with friends of our family trying unsuccessfully to sleep in a bed in their attic .
我們借宿到了一個朋友家裏，住在他們的閣樓上，那天的後半夜，我躺在牀上輾轉難眠。I was too scared to doze off, though. I didn’t know what lay ahead for us.
我太害怕了，不敢睡着。我不知道在未來等待着我們的是怎樣的命運。The next day my Mom brought me a few t-shirts and pairs of jeans given to her by another friend.
第二天，我媽媽給我帶回了幾件T恤，還有幾條褲子，這是她的另一個朋友送給她的。One pair of them was too short and the other pair too long but I didn’t care. At least I had some clothes again.
其中一條牛仔褲非常短，另外一條又太長了，可是我並不在意。至少我又有衣服穿了。Meanwhile my Dad had returned to blackened wreckage of our home to see what he could find.
與此同時，我爸爸回到房子裏，在燒成黑炭的灰燼中尋找還有價值的東西。The only thing he could save was my Mom’s wedding rings.
他找回的唯一的東西是媽媽的結婚戒指。The plastic case she had put them in that night had melted around them and shielded them from the flames.
當晚他把一對結婚戒指放進塑料盒子裏，盒子已經融化了，但它保護了這對戒指免受灼燒。As the summer days wore on my Dad was able to rent us a dusty old house by the side of the road near where our old house had been.
夏日一天天過去，我爸爸湊足了錢，爲我們租下了一樁灰塵遍地的老房子，就在大路邊我們的舊家附近。As we moved in I watched as family, friends and our community continued to donate all they could to help us get back on our feet.
我們搬進這所房子時，我環顧四周，家人、朋友、還有社區裏的鄰居們源源不斷地傾其所有援助我們，幫助我們重振家園。There was more clothes, furniture, food, money, and even some books for me to read.
我們又收到了新衣服、新傢俱、食物、錢，我甚至還收到了基本可以閱讀的書。Looking back now I am grateful for all we went through that Summer because it taught me so much about life, love, and people.
現在回憶那個時候，我對我們經歷的一切心存感恩，因爲它教會了我很多東西，有關人生，有關愛，還有人性。It showed me that when you have nothing left but love, for the first time you see that love is enough.
這些苦難讓我明白，當你一無所有，只剩下愛的時候，你會第一次發現，有愛就足夠了。May you always have “Enough” then for all the days of your life here.
