assign的基本意思是“分配,交給”,指把房屋、土地、工作任務等分配給某人,而非完成某工作而選擇人,帶有指令性或官方色彩,是及物動詞,一般後接雙賓語,其間接賓語可轉化爲介詞to的賓語,有時間接賓語可以省略。

assign也可作“指派,選派”解,指委派某人去做某事或分配某人到某崗位去工作,後常接動詞不定式作賓語補足語或介詞to引起的短語。

assign還可作“指定,訂出”解,指確定時間、地點、用途或說出原因、理由等,後接介詞to或for,常用於被動結構中; 有時還可接as+ n. 充當補足語的複合賓語。
