小強英語 第139期:Leech,不只是螞蝗

Leech----水蛭/寄生蟲

大家好，歡迎來到小強英語。在農村生活過、尤其是下過田、趟過水的朋友可能有接觸過leech這種東西，那就是螞蝗，也叫水蛭。

Leeches look like worms and live in water. They feed by attaching themselves to other animals and sucking their blood.
螞蝗外形像蠕蟲，生活在水中，靠依附其他動物並吸它們的血為生。

聽起來真真是可惡。延伸出去，If you describe someone as a leech, you disapprove of them because they deliberately depend on other people, often making money out of them. 依附別人、榨取別人錢財、資源的人，我們也形象地把這種人稱為“寄生蟲”。我們來聽一下例句：

They're just a bunch of leeches living off others!
他們只不過是一幫靠別人生活的寄生蟲！
