Book Knowledge and Experience

Knowledge can be acquired from many sources. These include reading books, classroom activities and practice, and each has its own advantages.

The knowledge we gain from books and formal education enables us to learn about things that we have no opportunity to experience in our daily life. First of all, we can study all the places in the world and learn from people we will never meet in our lifetime, just by reading about them in books. Second, we can also develop our analytical skills and learn how to view and interpret the world around us in different ways. Last but not least, we can shuttle between the past and the future by reading books. ln this way, we won’t repeat the mistakes of others.

Practice, on the other hand, offers us More useful knowledge. In fact, as we all know failure is the mother of success. Moreove, if one wants to make new advances, it is necessary to act. Innovations and inspiration do not only come about through reading but through experimentation. Finally, one can apply the skills and insights gained through the study of books to practical experience, making an already meaningful experience more meaningful.(197 words)

Our dormitory has four members. besides me, there are old zhao, young zhao and lily. as college students, our experiences are similar, and right now, we are all students of law school. but in terms of character, we are totally different from each other.

Old zhao is our common sister. she is very kind and considerate. she takes full responsibility of our dormitory. if sorne of us catch a cold, she will take good care of her. whenever we are in trouble, we turn to her.

Young zhao is a quiet girl. if there is a chat among us, she is always the one who says little but listens attentively. she has the admirable ability to do well in all kinds of examinations. we all agree that she is the example that we should learn from in studies.

Lily is just the opposite of young zhao. she is very talkative. we enjoy her cornpany because she has the sense of humor, which rnakes her talk extremely interesting. where there is lily, there is laughter.

Such are my three roommates. in spite of our different characters, we get on well with each other. our dormitory has become our common home.

There has been a heated discussion about libraries at the age of information among people. Some people, especially the younger generation, challenge the value of conventional libraries. When they need any information in their studies or work, they can turn to their computers for help. For this reason, they do not need to go to a library for borrowing or returning one or two books.

While others, including most old people as well as scholars, value libraries. They love libraries because they can enjoy peace and quietness in an isolated spiritual world. And they also have access to rare academic works needed for their studies in the libraries.

In my view, conventional libraries are still available though there is still much room for improving. At the Age of Information, as long as knowledge is respected and cherished, libraries won't extinct from our lives. On the other hand, libraries should not refuse the latest information technology, which will enable them to regain those young readers.
