One day, seated in the ancestral hall, King Hui of Liang saw a man leading an ox passby. He asked:
一天，梁惠王坐在廟堂上，看到堂下有一個人牽着一頭牛走過，便問道:
"Where are you taking the ox?"
“你把牛牽到哪兒去啊?”
The man leading the ox stopped and answered:
牽牛的人停下來回答說:
"I am taking it to be slaughtered and will use its blood to paint the bell."
“我要把這頭牛牽去殺掉，用它的血來塗鍾。”
As King Hui heard this, he felt pity for the ox and said:
惠王聽了，對牛十分憐憫，說:
"How can that be done? You are too cruel. Let it go at once.
“那怎麼行呢!你們太殘忍了，趕快把牛放掉。
It is not guilty. How can you kill it? I cannot bear to see it panic-stricken, shedding tears andtrembling before its death."
它沒有罪，怎麼能把它殺掉呢?我不忍心看到牛臨死前驚恐、流淚、戰慄的樣子。”
The man leading the ox asked:
牽牛的人問道:
"Do you mean that I shall let the ox go and not paint the bell? Is that it?"
“您的意思是要我把牛放了，不必再塗鍾了，是嗎?”
King Hui answered:
惠王回答說:
"What are you saying? How can you not paint the bell! Let the ox go, but use a sheep instead."
“你在說什麼?鍾怎麼能不塗呢!把牛放了，就換隻羊吧!”

The roc was very huge, with its back like a big mountain, and its wings like a stretch of cloudwhich could cover the sky.
鵬長得很大，背脊像一座大山，翅膀像一大片雲，能把天空遮住。
When it spread its wings, it could break through a storm and soar at a height of 90,000 li (1/2kilometre)in the sky towards the sea in the south.
它張開翅膀能衝破風暴，在九萬里高的天空中飛翔，一直飛向南方的大海。
A small bird called the quail bounced on the ground, free and happy.
有一隻叫鸚雀的小鳥，在地上蹦蹦跳跳，自由自在，非常快活。
It looked up at the roc soaring in the sky and couldn't help laughing:
它望着天空中展翅飛翔的大鵬，忍不住發笑，說:
"Hey, see how cocky you are! Look at me, one jump can take me over 10 chi. How delightful!
“咳，看你神氣活現的!我呀，一蹦一跳，就有十幾尺，多麼痛快啊!
Every day I come and go amid these weeds and thickets and fly freely.
我每天在這些雜草和樹叢裏，來來去去，自由飛翔，不也飛得挺好嗎?
Don't I fly quite well too? But, where can you fly to anyway?"
可是，你又能飛到哪裏去呢?”
關於英語故事加漢文篇3邯鄲學步
Handan was the capital of the State of Zhao during the Warring States Period.
邯鄲，是戰國時期趙國的首都。
A young man in the State of Yan heard that the State of Zhao was more powerful than the State of Yan,
燕國有個青年聽說趙國比燕國強大，
so he was much interested in the State of Zhao.
對趙國很感興趣，
Consequently, he crossed over mountain after mountain by himself and got to Handan.
於是，他一個人翻山越嶺，來到了邯鄲。
Upon arrival at Handan, he felt that the State of Zhao was indeed more stable than the State of Yan.
到了邯鄲，他覺得趙國確實比燕國安定。
Even the way of walking of the people of the State of Zhao looked better than that of the people of the State of Yan.
連趙國人走路的姿勢都比燕國人好看。
He made up his mind to learn how the people of the State of Zhao walked in Handan,
他決定在邯鄲學會趙國人走路，
so that in the future the people of the State of Yan could walk as gracefully as them.
將來讓燕國人走路也能像趙國人一樣好看。
Yet, that was easier said than done.
可是，說起來容易做起來難。
No matter how hard he tried, he was unable to learn the gait of the people of the State of Zhao.
這個青年怎麼學也沒有學會趙國人走路的姿勢，
On the contrary, he even forgot completely how he walked in the State of Yan.
反而連自己在燕國時如何走路也忘得乾乾淨淨。
In the end, he had no alternative but to crawl back from the State of Zhao to the State of Yan.
最後，池沒有辦法，只好爬着離開趙國回燕國去了。
