機器人誤開驅熊噴霧 亞馬遜廠房24人被送進醫院

Another day another reported safety breach at an Amazon facility.

近日，亞馬遜的一座廠房又被報道存在安全漏洞。

This time, twenty four workers at the New Jersey facility were hospitalised by one of the site robots which accidentally collided with a canister of bear repellent spray, showering it on surrounding human workers.

這一次，亞馬遜新澤西廠房的24名工人被現場的一臺機器人送進了醫院，這臺機器人不小心碰觸到了一瓶驅熊噴霧，導致噴霧劑噴到了周圍的員工身上。

In addition to the 24 victims sent to five local hospitals, a further 30 were treated at the scene, reports ABC News affiliate WABC.

據ABC新聞旗下WABC報道，除了24名受害者被送往當地5家醫院外，還有30名受害者在現場接受了治療。

An investigation concluded that "an automated machine accidentally punctured a 9-ounce bear repellent can, releasing concentrated Capsaican," For those without a chemistry qualification -- that basically means pepper spray.

據調查結果表明，事情起因是一臺自動化機器不小心刺穿了一個9盎司的驅熊噴霧，釋放出濃縮的辣椒素。如果你沒有什麼化學常識，你可以把它理解爲辣椒噴霧。

Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union President Stuart Appelbaum said in a statement: "Amazon's automated robots put humans in life-threatening danger today, the effects of which could be catastrophic and the long-term effects for 80 plus workers are unknown."

零售、批發和百貨公司工會主席斯圖爾特·阿佩爾鮑姆發表了一則聲明稱：“亞馬遜的自動化機器人如今將人類置於危及生命的危險之中，其後果可能是災難性的，對80多名工人的長期影響尚不清楚。”

Unions are not recognised by Amazon, but remain vocal in conditions for people working for one of the countries bigger employers.

"The richest company in the world cannot continue to be let off the hook for putting hard working people's lives at risk. Our union will not back down until Amazon is held accountable for these and so many more dangerous labour practices," Stuart said.

斯圖爾特表示：“這個世界上最富有的公司不能因爲置辛勤工作員工的生命於危險之中而繼續逍遙法外。我們工會不會對此置之不理，亞馬遜必須對此事甚至許多更危險的勞工行爲負責。”
