When it comes to overseas consumption by Chinese buyers, Louis Vuitton is not the only popular "LV."
當說到中國買家們到海外購物時，路易·威登並不是唯一一種受追捧的“LV”。The LV abbreviation spells "donkey" in pinyin, and Chinese consumers are increasingly interested in real donkeys as well as LV bags.
路易威登的縮寫“LV”在拼音裏的讀作“驢”，中國消費者們越來越對真正的驢感興趣，就如同他們對LV包包一樣。Donkeys imported from overseas already account for some 20 percent of the total products at Dong'e E jiao, one of the largest companies dealing E Jiao, or donkey-hide gelatin, according to the company's president Qin Yufeng.
據中國最大的阿膠製作公司之一的東阿阿膠集團的總裁秦玉峯表示，從國外進口驢的數量目前已經佔據該公司總產品的20%。

阿膠是通過將驢皮浸泡、蒸煮過後得到的一種明膠。阿膠經常被當作一種中藥，用來治療出血、頭暈、失眠和咳嗽。For Dong'e E Jiao alone, the company needs over 1 million donkey skins every year, but the supply always falls short, the company's managers admitted in an interview with Beijing Youth Daily.
東阿阿膠公司經理在接受《北京青年報》採訪時承認，單單就該公司來說，每年就需要100多萬張驢皮，但是供應量經常不能得到滿足。National data on livestock shows a sharp drop of donkey numbers in China. They have declined to about 5 million from 11 million in the 1990s. The number is still declining at a rate of over 3 percent, according to Beijing Youth Daily.
據國家有關牲畜的數據顯示，中國活毛驢存量急劇下降。上個世紀90年代，中國毛驢存量從1100萬下降到了500萬。據《北京青年報》報道，毛驢的數量仍然在以每年3個百分點的速度減少。
